Does anyone know what the average cost of shipping 1 slabbed book within the lower 48 states should be? I think a slab weighs only about 1 to 1.5 lbs. I will be shipping from Atlanta, GA.

Rough guesstimate: $12-$18 depending on weight, which coast it is going to and whether you use USPS flat rate or not.

Yea, there are a lot of variables involved. I'm going to be putting some slabs on ebay and wasn't sure what I should set the shipping cost at. Don't know where I will be sending them to yet. But if I set it say at $15 it should cover it? |

Yes, exception being if you go GA to Cali, that can be up to $18 depending on weight and whether you use the flat rate boxes. For eBay, I recommend free shipping and just up yer price by $15 or so, but that's me. |

I double box everything and can usually keep the weight to 2.0 or less unless we are talking about a magazine. I charge $12.95 for one slab, $16.95 for one magazine and exact shipping for two or more slabs. Even at 2.0 lbs I lose a bit if I am sending to California or Hawaii with signature confirmation. Of course, those books are $250+ so in the end it makes sense. |

You could always quote $20 & promise in the ad to refund the buyer the difference of what it actually cost after the item ships. But I use the skinny medium priority box ($13.60 anywhere in the US). With that base price, adding insurance estimates is easy. I've only had one slab crack in transit with the medium box. Use a lot of bubble wrap & you should be fine. |

13 and change for up to priority mail medium box. There's three priority boxes - the small "video" box won't fit books or slabs. The priority mailer envelope is usually 7-9 but that's gambling due to protection. I bubble wrap(large bubbles) at least three times covering all edges. Nice avatar BTW. I've got a few of those. |

If the want a gigantic box then that the slabs swims around in then they can always request it. Priority boxes are fine, I just shipped two this morning to a couple of happy customers. I've never received any bad reviews. I've never received or sent anything bigger. |
