So, what are the suggested guidelines for the best candidates for pressing? I'd imagine I should skip any books with any slight rips. Any tips would be appreciated. |

Basically anything that breaks colour is a no go for me. Writing in pen is bad but pencil or grease pencil can be cleaned away. Certainly rips also - unless a special circumstance ( I have a Weird Science #7 signed by Feldstein that I am considering getting pressed and cleaned and VSP'd that has a rip)

It depends in what the potential value is. I am currently pressing some golden age that have few minor chip and edge tears. Normally I only send in high grade GA (8.5 & up), buy these are all golden age #1's that are 5.5 up to 8.0 but they still are semi valuable even in those grades. Like I am expecting a 6.0 to 7.0 on a Ghost Comics #1, in that range its a 400.00 to 500.00 book. So I base the pressing an grading candidates based on their potential value.

Any flaw that doesn't damage ink should get fixed by pressing, so even if a few flaws break color you can still benefit if it also has a lot of non breaking flaws.

So, if there are breaks in color, would the pressing process make them worse?

So we decided that a press/clean will remove writing in pencil on the cover? Auction ends in an hour on a silver age key with writing on the cover

@Thanatos indentation of writing (like the homework was on top of the comic) will press out. Actual writing with ink or graphite, not so much.

So, does pressing assume cleaning as well, or is that separate?

@Thanatos it can be removed if you know what you are doing. The Manuel Pacifico I spent only about 30 minutes on so far. I cleaned it and pressed it. Not sure I will do much more to it. The paper quality of that giveaway is terribly cheap and thin, Unlike the magazine which has much better paper to work with. |

@earthshaker01 wow that's impressive. Now I regret not bidding! Dangit haha here is a picture since the auction is over (no bids) and it hasn't been relisted, maybe I'll send him a message and see if I can get it cheaper. Low grade Hawkman #4 w/ UK Pence stamp |

@Logan510 because your comment was unnecessary, and subversively snarky. You knew to begin with what I was referring to, but chose to make your snarky comment anyway. And this has been a pattern with your posts in the past. So don't be snarky in the first place if you don't want snarky back.
