I've been collecting comics for quite a few years now, and I've met lots of people from all walks of life into collecting comics. I've been wondering which type of people are most likely to collect comics and what do you do for living?

I'll start.
I'm currently a university student and I've started collecting since I was around 12-13 years old.

I've worn many hats over the last 50+ years of collecting. I got my first comic books of my own when I was 6 years old.
I have worked at McDonald's, been a machinist, and have been registered to work in medical x-ray/CT scan since 1984.

I sell on e-Bay & periodically work in construction when my Dad (a General Contractor) needs a hand. I've collected comics since I was about 8 or 9. I started coincidentally shortly before the Death of Superman story began. I remember painting fences to scrape together the $55 I needed to buy that black bag edition. It's worth what? $15 now? LOL!

When I got married almost five years ago, I sold a lot of my more valuable books to buy my wife's wedding ring.

Cool thing? She's very supportive of my collecting. She knows it's an investment & has got me some epic books as Anniversary gifts.

Military contractor and Air Force Reserves. My mom only let me read one series when I was a kid due to financial struggles and picked Green Lantern in the early 2000s. Besides my Green Lantern collection from that time I mostly collect casually and pick up key issues of other characters I like when I get a chance.

I envy those whose wives support their comic collecting, getting that Showcase #22 is going to take a lot of groveling.

Program manager. Basically I manage a team of Architects and Project Managers. Make sure the Architects design something that can actually be built, then make sure the PMs build it correctly and on budget.

I wish I was a pole dancer.

Engineer. I started I the mid 80's (13 at the time). Took a hiatus during my college years (no income)...then got back into them for a while after getting a steady job...Took another hiatus when I got married and had kids (slim budget)...

I got back into them recently when I decided to slab my keys and move some of my non-keys and issues I'll never read again. I still have a really tight budget, so I've been reinvesting the $$ from selling to slab more keys buy a few reads that I've always been interested in. The wife has been understanding as I haven't been dipping into our income or savings and she knows what I purchase/slab has good return on investment potential.

I am an Economist at a think-tank where I specialise in central and south American emerging economies. Prior to that I worked for large companies where I would analyze data to determine the infamous MSRP points.

I started collecting about 35 years ago, and have even had a few forays into owning comic shops. The first two I sold and the last one I lost in a divorce. Getting ready to start my fourth.

I also wrote a mini-series for DC's vertigo line.

My most infamous claim to fame: I ghost wrote a porn stars "auto-biography" when I first graduated journalism school.

I'm a struggling graphic designer/ fine art photographer. I work as a yearbook cover artist during the school year & usually laid off over the summer months. I got lucky last year & started working on some outside commercial books through our sister company. ALWAYS looking for more freelance work so I can actually get my bills paid.

Broadcaster for a PBS affiliate, Navy reserves after being active Navy. Recently recalled to active duty so my posting will be nonexistent soon. Started collecting when I came home to a shoebox full of books. Nothing fancy but Amazing Spider-Man 328 and What the?! #6 hooked me. Been on and off with collecting over the years, but pretty entrenched now that I have some disposable income and no kids that I know about.
