I wasn't expecting much with Moon....I don't even remember why I went to see it...but it was haunting. I kept trying to get everyone I knew to go see it. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. If you haven't seen it, GO GET IT AND WATCH IT. You won't be disappointed. |

@Ditch_Fahrenheit I've heard this before - real sci-fi, what does that mean (I'm being sincere) What's the difference between real sci-fi and sci-fi |

But for me, one shows the human element and everything we identify with being human in a "new" environment or paradigm. Many times it will question our existing value systems or points of view. It can show how humanity changes as it adapts to new challenges brought about by technology, new events in the future, etc. The other is just putting normal well-used action/drama in space or the future. A cowboy in a space suit isn't all that different from a cowboy on a horse. War in space or on another planet isn't really all that different from war on earth (even if lasers and photon cannons are being used). Sorry if I'm not making sense...I just woke up. |

Now I have my coffee... You should just change "real" with "stuff I like the most." There's no accepted definition. In the end, Science Fiction is just normal fiction with a science boost. |

Take "2001" for example. For me, it's a story of evolution. The biggest story element in the book/film is mankind's evolution from ape to human to something more via extraterrestrial manipulation. But, for me, the most interesting story element is man's technological progeny (HAL) developing consciousness, finding itself in a moral dilemma, and going crazy because of it. So there are two reference points, mankind going forward and his progeny catching up. And then, of course, the parallels between the ETs and mankind. From a SF point of view, that was brilliant writing.

I have a penchant for automobiles that turn into giant robots and fight one another. I can't explain it. |

nothing wrong with either, but there is a difference, both can be wonderful when done right or completely awful when done incorrectly. |

Moon is so much better than that Martian movie. How people loved that one is baffling. it was ok but people really enjoyed it.

I like The Martian because of the will to survive angle coupled with using technology to make that happen. Re-purposing other gadgets, etc. The movie Gravity, on the other hand, was beautifully filmed, but fell victim to the normal "unbelievable sequence of events" problem that infects most Hollywood movies. |

@jsilverjanet I wound up staying up until 6am playing Uncharted 4, so far it's very well deserving of the stellar reviews it has gotten. If you've contemplated getting a PS4 and do decide to get one you will definitely have this game to look forward to.

I like any survival movie on Mars. Heck...I think I like ANY movie with Mars in it. I love this movie...very similar to The Martian in some ways. |
