Picasso painted or drew the images below at the age of 14 to 16.
Hardly a hack, I think.

Edit: the drawing of the male torso was drawn at the age of 12.

Here's an example of really crappy art. Whoever painted this junk should be ashamed of himself. I can't figure out what possessed the dude into thinking he could put oil on anything besides a salad. His brushes and pens should be confiscated, his drafting table drawn and quartered and his easel used for kindling in this fiery thread. Since his art sucks big time, maybe this bozo should spend his time engaged in some other ridiculous endeavor, like collecting comics, acting or ...heaven forbid... debating who's the lousiest artist on a chat board. That would serve him right!

Dear Lord, everything that's wrong with Modern comics applauded and canonized in a single post.

and what exactly do you think is wrong? because people like one style over another? because i think more manga influenced art looks better than traditional?

You can like what you want to like. Under the same mantra, I'm allowed to dislike manga and the unholy art it produced. I'm old and I'm fond of properly proportioned anatomy.

Im not the one sitting here saying you like everything thats wrong with comics.
.

I'm of the mind that this fake Manga did help ruin comics. It sure ruined comics for me. When people like Joe Mad show up and make a title unreadable, that bums me out.The real problem is when these artists draw established characters. If all Ramos ever did was his own projects like Crimson I wouldn't think he sucks so bad.

But it's not just the fake Manga I hate, so I'm not just picking on that. I hate "scratchy" artists like Maleev, Lark, Albuquerque, Rocafort, etc. The only reason I could make it through Bendis' DD run was that the story was better than the art.

I had to research this!! It seems the artist is one Cat Conrad. He looks vaguely familiar to a masked crusader who haunts comic book forums. I looked at some prints he has for sale and I must say that I am impressed!!! I hate oil on salads, but I like what he does with it on a canvas!!

Yeah, unfortunately THAT Picasso was forgotten and left behind after 12! None of those images are remotely close to the art style he became famous for, and produced for 99% of his career.

These however, are representative of the "talentless" hack I mentioned. I stand by my opinion

Boobs

Otherwise, it sucks

Picasso was very talented, as we see in his early work. Unfortunately, he then realised he could sell terrible work to rich people (at inflated prices) who thought they were smarter than everyone else for liking it.

This has been unfortunately common since his day.

I liked Ramos on Spidey. It was different. Exciting. I get tired of the army of Jim Lee clones that seem to draw everything these days. I'll take something funky and weird over the cookie cutter approach to "superhero art".

Kelley Jones is my favorite Batman artist, for the same reason. I was working at a comic shop when that run was going, and people were frothing at the mouth mad over Jones' art on the flagship DC book. It was too "weird".

I'll take weird over same-old-stuff any ol' day.

I dont think "weird" when I see that Wolverine pic in the first post. I'd prefer a Charles Burns type of weird.

And you're right, Kelley Jones is one of the worst Batman artists ever. Just as bad as Mike Mignola on Batman.

I actually love Ramos' style and have seen it evolve over time to something that can be considered much more mainstream. I agree that his early marvel work have heavy elements of manga and some of his figures weren't so easy on the eyes but his later work is amazing. (The big hands feet and eyes have since been shrunk dowb to more realistic proportions.) Since his BIG TIME run i usually buy anything he does. I actually think his style is perfect for Spidey. His faces and forms have become much more attractive.

I honestly think he's one of the top Artist's in the game right now. Right up there with Capullo.

... Just my two cents.

What grates me are artists that swipe work and claim it as their own. I suppose most artists do it to some degree, but some are more blatant. I understand homage, but not outright stealing of somebody's creative, intellectual work on a frequent basis. That bothers me more than how terrible their art looks. It's just dishonest.

Are you talking about commission work from a different artist then the one who created the character?

oh, ok. I never heard of someone stealing another artist work. I figured it would be too obvious and could get into serious trouble over it.

Not to pick on Liefeld, he comes up a lot. He's been caught swiping from time to time. Here's a more egregious example.
