So many artists whose work I don't like.

Irv Novick
Humberto Ramos
Frank Robbins
Herb Trimpe
Don Heck
Al Milgrom (as a penciller. As an inker, he does good work)
Frank Miller (now)
Vinnie Coletta (he destroyed every artist he inked)
Mark Bagley
Neal Adams (now)
Erik Larsen
Mike Vosburg
Infantino (80s work. Just awful)
Frank Springer
Bob Budiansky
Jack Sparling
Steve Leialoha
Trevor Von Eeden
Norm Breyfogle (never cared for the style)
Denys Cowan
Ross Andru

There are also many that just fill me with meh. Not bad just nothing special.
Ed Hannigan
Alex Saviuk
Paul Kupperberg
Ron Wilson
Ron Randall
Greg LaRocque
Curt Swan (much prefer Wayne Boring on Supes)
Eduardo Barreto
Richard Howell

It is pretty goofy looking though I thought he captured the short tank like appearance I envision wolverine to have. He does make muscular big guys really big though.
He is currently doing this x men book and while it's the old man logan wolverine version, he is still like this. And boy his colossus is well... colossal

I've always liked Sal's 70s work.

I was a fan of his earlier work as well...was mainly referring to his late Bronze stuff (Hulk, Rom etc)

It stated to change for me when he took over for Simonson on Thor and his work on Spectacular Spidey at around the same time. His style got even more angular and his lines thicker.

No doubt 90% of comic artists look exactly the same... wheras only a handful are instantly recognizable. Id take Ramos over John Tyler Christopher (JTC is great just not what i personally like)My Favorites were Joe Madureira, Humberto Ramos, Chris Bachalo, J Scott Campbell. so i always took style over realism.

Hell Romita Jr... is on my all time worst list as well.

Disney, that explains it, Lilo & Stitch.
I can't stand that style.
Different strokes for different folks.

John Romita Jr. is one of the greats of the copper/modern age, and one of my favorites.

and what exactly do you think is wrong? because people like one style over another? because i think more manga influenced art looks better than traditional?

I first got introduced to JRJR with Spiderman... and off the bat disliked it... never got into him. however... i LOVED Kick Ass... but only thanks to Dean White... His colors made JRJR bearable.

As far as liking "everything thats wrong with modern comics..."

This is everything wrong with modern comics? I dont get it apparently...

You can like what you want to like. Under the same mantra, I'm allowed to dislike manga and the unholy art it produced. I'm old and I'm fond of properly proportioned anatomy.

again youre missing the point... the Thread title is "terrible artists"... not, "reason to be a jerk" and use "personal opinion" as an excuse to do so. You really dont see how the way you talk comes off as condescending and pretentious? Youre the reason these forums quickly deteriorate. (see how that sounds?)

I am a terrible artist. Can't even draw stick figures correctly.
To me, all these artists are pretty darn good.
The "bad" artists that I like best, are the ones who can "tell" the story through their art.
BTW..Not a fan of Anime. That said to each their own!

Picasso painted or drew the images below at the age of 14 to 16.
Hardly a hack, I think.

Edit: the drawing of the male torso was drawn at the age of 12.

Here's an example of really crappy art. Whoever painted this junk should be ashamed of himself. I can't figure out what possessed the dude into thinking he could put oil on anything besides a salad. His brushes and pens should be confiscated, his drafting table drawn and quartered and his easel used for kindling in this fiery thread. Since his art sucks big time, maybe this bozo should spend his time engaged in some other ridiculous endeavor, like collecting comics, acting or ...heaven forbid... debating who's the lousiest artist on a chat board. That would serve him right!

.

I'm of the mind that this fake Manga did help ruin comics. It sure ruined comics for me. When people like Joe Mad show up and make a title unreadable, that bums me out.The real problem is when these artists draw established characters. If all Ramos ever did was his own projects like Crimson I wouldn't think he sucks so bad.

But it's not just the fake Manga I hate, so I'm not just picking on that. I hate "scratchy" artists like Maleev, Lark, Albuquerque, Rocafort, etc. The only reason I could make it through Bendis' DD run was that the story was better than the art.
