How state of the art is CSA's sig verificati2803

Collector verbogyrater private msg quote post Address this user
Being an artist, there are sigs out there that all I need is a reference of several of that particular, authentic sig and a few of the final raw books to give it a go. I'd have nothing to lose if I were to submit a copy this way. So ultimately I believe the verification process can be hit or miss with the possibility of err on the hit side. This is why I brought up the question, aside from red labels I'd like to submit for...genuine.

I'm aware of graphology, Lego. It isn't a perfect science, my question pertained to CSA's process in particular. You definitely know Wikipedia though. Thanks

I can't imagine it that is much different for comics autographs. I think the CBCS program is helpful, but its not perfect.
Easiest way to make sure a sig is authentic is to get it yourself.

So are you out of luck if a sig isn't on the list. I doubt they'll scramble to get samples in just for a possible order. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

And thanks Lego for the link.

The only signature I have that CSA could not verify was Dan Khanna's. That was in late 2014 or early 2015 (whenever I sent in my first submission). He wasn't on CSA's list, but I think he is on there now.

They(CBCS) just got back to me. If it isn't on the list they ain't verifying it.

I wonder if they take notice when yellows come in with names not currently on the list and use those to add to the list?

The artist I wanted verified wasn't on their list. All Three of mine came back verified, that was in July.

So I can't rely on what CBCS tells me regarding this.

So did you give them a heads up or just fire the books off to them?

If updates to that site are anything like this one, it's a good bet the list hasn't been updated in awhile.

@verbogyrater To be honest I never knew about the "list" until my books had been sent, pressed and awaiting grading. I remember checking the list and seeing that the artist's name wasn't on it. I was nervous but at that point I couldn't do anything about it. Three months later my books showed up and were verified. I just looked at the list and the artist's name is now there. I think they're adding names as they go.

I agree mattness, lists get updated in that industry quite often, just to sstisify the customer base.

CSA needs to send CBCS a more recent one.....sort of an improved listing, due to missed sales opportunities and customer input.

I don't see a contact directly to CSA. I don't know if I'd readily gamble by just sending the books to them and hope for the best.

I've got one that looks like it may be a fake as well. Strokes on portions of the sig deviate totally from his normal.

I'm tempted to take pics and show you guys.

@verbogyrater CSA's sole business model is verifying books for CBCS, they don't do anything else. That's why there is no contact information, CBCS is their only customer.

I don't want to embarrass myself.

There's a ton of modern artists that aren't on that list I'm finding. That list has to be OLD! I need to call CBCS next week. The red label was a selling point for getting a membership.
