Least Favorite/Most Hated Character(s)2772

Collector Themaxx35 private msg quote post Address this user
Had a lot of posts about favorite characters and favorite story arcs. How about our least favorite characters? Which character just taints any story arc that he/she/it shows up in?

Expound on your reasons as you wish, but let the hate flow.

Movie versions of character of anything Michael Bay has touched. How does this guy still get to make movies??

Characters altered for the sake of political correctness.

Here, here! Characters who are now gay, trans or a different race. I have no problem with that but why change icons for political correctness? Create new characters for that and expand the universe to keep up with the times.

For me, its Batwoman. I don't know if I can put my finger on why, but I had to drop Detective Comics b/c it became essentially a Batwoman book that happened to have Batman in it. I feel like they pump her up to be Bruce's equal, which only makes Batman less unique. That and I am huge Barbara Gordon fan, and it seems like Batwoman has taken her place in the Bat-Family. And the costume sucks too.

I'll add Krypto. Super-pets need to stay in the Silver Age.

Always had mixed feelings about that character. Kinda like him, but the dialogue always puts me off. Maybe it depends on who is writing him.

I no longer follow DC or Marvel really but I kind of like that the Green Lantern was now homosexual and that one of his weaknesses is wood - just find that funny

Scrappy Doo is the worst character in anything ever for all time.

I'm a long time Wolverine fan, so when Romulus was introduced as the one responsible for everything that had gone wrong in Logan's life I was immediately turned off by the character. Romulus had nothing better to do than follow Logan around his entire life and make it a living nightmare. Really? 🙄

Romulus was supposed to be the ultimate string-pulling puppet master in Logan's life. He is nothing more than a lazy retconned-character who undid a lot of great Wolverine stories. I can't stand him.

In her defense there are some really cool looking Bat-Woman covers.

Also, if you read Bat-Girl (New 52) I think she fights Bat-Woman and even though she is aware of being slightly over-matched she doesn't back down. It was a good read I just can't remember which issue.

Yeah I think she started out okay. The attempt to elevate her in the Rebirth era may be my problem. I should say the extended Bat-family in general kinda bothers me. I like a Frank Miller style Batman, brooding and one who shuns excessive connections. There are so many capes in Gotham now that it seems crowded. At least they moved Nightwing to Bludhaven and Batgirl to Burnside. It they move Batwoman to Chicago I might not mind her as much.

I think that says a lot more about Rebirth than Bat-Woman.

Na. I'm going to stand by my hate for bat-woman. Rebirth otherwise has been great.

Simon Baz, the gun wielding Green Lantern because he doesn't trust his ring followed by Jessica Cruz, the Green Lantern that's afraid of everything.

There were already four human Green Lanterns and Geoff Johns decided to add some politically correct characters to the group with Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz. WHY DO WE NEED SIX HUMAN GREEN LANTERNS?!

Given the nature of this thread, let's try to be respectful of what others DO like. Given the history of arguments between certain people on this forum, we will NOT allow people to bait other members into an argument. This was decided by all the mods.

Wow! Talk about political correctness. (not to mention one heck of an assumption.) So lemme get this straight: if I or another member says they really like Daredevil or Batwoman, are you going to delete those comments to protect the feelings of those who DO like them? What's the point of having a forum (asking questions and expressing our thoughts) if there can't be a free exchange of ideas WITHOUT big brother making assumptions about something that didn't even happen?

This is hardly an assumption. You have a history of getting into arguments with another forum member. Whether you know it or not, and I believe you do, your choice of characters and how you choose to describe those characters is called baiting. You are looking to get into an argument with a particular member. This is a singular case of preventive maintenance on the part of us mods. We will not allow feuds and arguments to disrupt this forum. The decision is final, I suggest you accept it and move on.

So I also hate Betty Boop. Am I allowed to hate her? Is that hurting anyone's feelings? Any Betty Boop fans here? Anyone?
Anyone? Bueller? Speak-up guys!

I kinda like the new GLs. But I totally agree about not seeing the need for 6 human GLs

OMG So very much this guy!! Couldn't have said it better myself. Worst ret-conning of a character ever. I wish Lenore would ret-con that ret-con. Such a shitty way to explain strife and ruin so much good history.

Robin. Superboy. Superwoman.

In general, I dislike sidekicks and secondary spin-offs (ie superman to supergirl, add a spinoff to the secondary and get superwoman).

Agreed on the GL as well, too many!

Mr. Fantastic. For that matter the entire Fantastic Four. I've never understood why they are beloved. The team is made up of a cocky flame guy, a rock guy who is always unhappy, an invisible woman, and a smart plastic man. Oh, and they drive around in a hovercraft. The concept sounds like a bad Image team from the 1990's.

@Towmater never really got the fantastic four either. I think they're something you kinda had to be there for when they first came out. It never surprised me that their movies flopped. It's kinda corny source material. Maybe I haven't read enough of the books though. Could change my opinion.

@Themaxx35 Their movies failing never surprised me either. Just like it didn't surprise me that the book got cancelled. The team, the concept, and what they do are outdated. They never progressed out of the "Oh, shucks, leave it to beaver" early 1960'd era they were created in.
