I don't believe they do. I could be wrong. I don't recall ever seeing that as an option for online submissions.

Only way you can do that, as far as i know, is through a dealer. You pay the dealer paypal to submit on your behalf to CBCS. You get the dealer discount that way too.

As @DarthLego said. If you get a PayPal debit card, the aayment goes through your PayPal account as if you're using a MasterCard.

If you use Patpal a lot, it's very useful. Only downside is when you use it at an ATM, PayPal charges you a buck on top of the machine's convenience charge.

Not so with other transactions, though.

Either your dealer is an idiot or there is a bit more to the submission than is being described above....

Let's say you are submitting five moderns through said dealer that have total Fair Market Value of $1000.

The dealer cost is $14 a book for grading ($70 total) and $30 return shipping via FedEx. $100 total.

You pay the dealer $100 via PayPal

Paypal deposits $96.80 into the dealers bank account.

So by processing your submission and getting paid with PayPal, the dealer has lost $3.20. This isn't the sharpest business owner in town...

As Lego said, you can pay with a Paypal debit card.

Having Paypal and not using the Paypal debit card is like buying a Swiss army knife and just using the spoon. It really is an awesome invention.

It really is useful, especially if you sell on eBay often, spending money right out of your account it easier than waiting for bank transfers.

@IronMan Obviously dealer charges 3% Paypal surcharge. Lots of dealers and pressers do it. I've seen it.

I wouldn't dispute (but do not know) if a lot of dealers and pressers do this. But that doesn't mean they are not stupid. Lots of people die or get seriously injured every year doing something stupid. Lots of small businesses fail in the first year or so from bad decisions and not being smart enough about the business to succeed.

The pressing services make money on Pressing - so some are willing to pass on the discount on grading. If they upcharge 3% on PP to cover the fees then they are still OK. The convenience of sending books into a grading company on your behalf and the savings on grading costs is part of what they market.

HOW does the dealer - say the owner of a comic book store - make a nickel in this endeavor if they send the book in at cost and only charge enough to cover their PP fees? They would be better off working at McDonald's where they at least get paid $9 an hour for their time as opposed to working for nothing.

There is a reason the real grading companies have dealer rates. It is to encourage submissions via comic shops. Increase the presence of CGC and CBCS at the local level. People on forums like this often fail to grasp that professional grading and encapsulation of comics is a tiny, tiny part of the hobby. The vast majority - the overwhelming majority of comic books bought and sold as collectibles are done so raw.

Submission forms do not fill themselves out. Books do not wrap themselves up in bubble wrap and hop into boxes, sealing themselves up afterwards. Online postage takes time, trips to and waiting in line at USPS or FedEx take even longer. The expectation is and should be that dealers charge retail. We don't expect comic book stores to sell new comics at cost. Why would facilitating professional grading and encapsulation be at cost? 20% is actually a fairly low margin.

@IronMan I have no idea how much profit is to be made off a dealer than accepts submissions to a grading company. I think the dealer is more interested in getting traffic into their store and return customers that buy more than just grading.

OK... Hope that works out for them Generally speaking, retail stores offer goods or services at near cost when it is something that will bring in a lot of traffic. Professional grading and encapsulation isn't one of those things. There are not all that many collectors that focus on collecting slabbed books. Offering 10% off on new comics or having some retro arcade games would probably generate a lot more traffic....Just sayin....

FYI:.....CGC dealer pricing is a straight 20% off all tiers. CBCS dealer pricing is about 20% off (it varies a small amount by tier) with no discount on 1 day.
