Undervalued Comics Series2623

Hey Guys, Do you guys think there are any comic book series that are undervalued? For me, the early issues of The Green Lantern series (volume 2) from the 1960's seems undervalued. I used to feel the same about the Flash series from the 60's but those prices have gone up some. |

Yes, there are some comics that are undervalued. Specifically, every single comic book I own is undervalued.

i always love questions like these. "undervalued" compared to what? other comics? real estate prices? stock prices? gold and silver? modern variant prices?

I'd pick the Teen Titans. If you go back to the Brave and the Bold 54 and look at low and mid grade copies you will find it runs 200.00 for a 4.0, 300.00 for a 5.0, and 475.00 for a 6.0. A Brave and the Bold 60 in 8.0 (1st appearance of Donna Troy) went for 499.00 in March of this year. |

@Towmater True. I think the Teen Titan books also have an " potential for increased value" as @GAC put it.

@BrianGreensnips It would be interesting to see people's ideas just on key issues. I've always thought that Adventure Comics 283 was undervalued.

World's Finest 88. first Joker/Luthor team up. it's got a NM value ~$1000 .. may/june 1957. with 22 graded copies on CGC. good luck finding a decent copy compare that price to the first Subby/Dr. Doom "1st Marvel Villain teamup" in FF #6 from 1962, at about $8000+ in NM?? with 650 copies on CGC census. after that, Lois Lane #106 catches my fancy. i think it's a historically very important book and the price is nowhere near where it should be. for me, those two books are tops on my list. after that, i try and find any DC from the early to mid 1950's in as high grade as possible. simply put, these are scarce and imo, very very cheap in relation to other books. wonder woman books too. |

I think almost all of the Adventure Comics with the Legion of Superheroes are undervalued. In fact, the Legion of Superheroes series are really undervalued. For Marvel, I don't think most FF's, Hulk (except 1-6), and JIM/Thor get the respect that other titles do.

Nothing. It is all supply and demand based. There are plenty of things that I think are under and over valued but my voice is a minority.

Not saying they're undervalued per se, but I'm still fond of McFarlane's runs on ASM and Hulk. His work at that time was like almost nothing else out (although Liefeld's style was close, but not quite there). I do believe, however, that ASM 300 is overvalued. Just my opinion.

@jrs Yes, based upon how many are out there. Kind of like Hulk 181. Huge supply but the demand is there to keep driving the price up. The idea of an overvalued thread would be a good one to start. Maybe, somebody will start one. |

Captain Atom, from Space Adventures ... now THOSE are seriously undervalued when looking at other DC characters from the same time period. First DOOM Patrol in My Greatest Adventure... IF you can find decent copies.

The first Doom Patrol in My Greatest Adventure #80 has been steadily increasing in value over the last few years. Graded 8.0 copies have been selling for just over $1000 lately. Of course compared to X-Men #1 which sells for around $12,000 in 8.0, it's no contest. Ironically, both series' original runs got canceled in the late 60's, early 70's, but of course the X-Men experienced a renaissance but the Doom Patrol just never caught on again in the same way even though it's been re-launched several times since.![]() |

Quote:Originally Posted by GAC Wonder Woman... that ship has kinda sailed guys, what an opportunity! On the Nostomania Twitter feed, go back to November of last year and you see an All Star Comics 8, CBCS GD- 1.8, one-point-eight!, selling for $27,485.00. Go just a bit further back to October, and we have a Wonder Woman 98, CGC VG- 3.5, selling for $1,792.50. I mention these because I only post items to the Twitter feed that, at the time, my algorithms consider outliers (items that sell for multiples above or below the current Nostomania value. So again, it's supply and demand, and movies are now the primary driver. |
