I bought a meat grinder on amazon for $60 and it's changed my life. kaptainmyke private msg quote post Address this user
I'm finding that any books over 2000-2002 starts getting impossible to find newstand upc versions that do not state "DIRECT EDITION". It's a little more common but not impossible for 1991-1999. I also am finding that 1991-1992 and 1997-1999 are the hot spots.

The trouble is finding 9.8s. You can get them dirt cheap IF you can find them. 9.2 and under are a dime a dozen just like the spidey and cap heads are

Anything 9.4+ is good for the guide and good enough for me imo

Always nice to see an ebay package on my desk in the morning 😁

High grade 1st Omega Red. Very slight roll, with a press it has a legit shot at a 9.8.

You can get these in captainheads all day long on ebay in mint for a dime a dozen. This one was very difficult to track down!

Some of these are cool. I don't actively search for newsstand copies, but some of the info on the books has been intriguing. I never thought much about them when I was 12 and walking up to the local Kroger or K-Mart to buy a couple new comics when I couldn't go to the LCS.

I agree with kaptainmyke that newstand issues will be the next needle in the haystack search. Searching is half the fun. Since this is a relatively new revelation I'm hoping that in the dozens of boxes and grab bags I gotta sort thru, I might find a fairly high % newsstand issues. Here's hoping!!!

Thanks! It's super fun, especially at the LCS or local used bookstores. Ebay shows that a lot of sellers are catching on, too - "monkey see, monkey do!"

I worked out an immediate "buy it now" with a seller who just listed this tonight. 1:1000. You know how rare a high grade Spawn #1 Newsstand Edition is? Go ahead. Try and find one on ebay. Impposibru!

I am SUPER PUMPED!

Now, if only I could get Matt to get Todd McFarlane to sign books. I can't seem to get Toddy to sign books.

I believe newsstands are all going to rise in value, to varying degrees. I must have a dozen or so Spawn #1 with a handful being newsstands. I've read 1.7 million Spawn#1 were printed. So please check my math. At 1:1000 newsstand copies the result would be a total of 1700 newsstand copies out of 1.7 million total copies? Or am I doing something very wrong here?

Okay I broke down some maths.

15% of comics in 1992 were allegedly newsstand. 225,000 (1/4 million copies)

So 1:1000 is not accurate, that was hand grenade accurate. 32 is more accurate.

I think it's even more accurate to say it's a 3:100. Or, 30 in 1000, if you will.

Not even a 1:100 LOL

225,000 newstand copies of that book at 15% of 1.7 Million would be correct.

1 in every 7.55 would be A newstand copy.

Genuine COA has Mcfarlane sign from time to time. That is where I got my lastest signature from him.

1:50, 1:100, etc. Are retailer incentive terms. Trying to apply those terms to anything that isn't an RI is just asking for headache and confusion. Don't do it.

@kaptainmyke My apologizes Kaptainmyke, after re-reading my post it sounds rather "attacking" I meant it to be informative that there are currently two available on ebay.

Thanks all. I figured it was too good to be true. Where I picked up the 1:1000 number for this comic book I don't recall. Anyway here's some of the Spawn 1 I have dug out of the pile. There's actually 5 books in this picture one of which is double bagged. I probably have another 10 or so stashed away in various boxes.

Hmmm the double bagged comics is interesting. Are, is. Whichever is proper. English is hard.
