That sounds more like an endorsement for your closet.

You're just odd.

I'm sure Miss Spelling gets my sense of humor. That's okay, I can be awed too.

You need to invite The Bookery over to this board, that way he'll make you seem funny by comparison.

I'll take that under advisement. In the meantime, get a refill on your N2O prescription and call me in the morning.

I would but I'm all out of those really thick punching-bag balloons they sell at Toys R Us.

Does the book look like that when you look at it head on? Or just at that angle with the light hitting it that way?

This was my experience with the new CGC slabs. Wavy and fanned. The top and bottom of the slab aren't sealed either. The book was pressed by CFP and I've never had a book come out looking like a rag when I have used their services.
Hopefully, they get it worked out. To be fair, the other books didn't look like a bag of butt in the slabs (minus the Newton effect).

Are you going to keep it in the slab or crack it out?

I'm going to call them and see if they'll correct it at their expense. If not, I'll crack it anyway, and CBCS can slab it properly.

Does CGC still have that option where you can get it put in one of the "older" slabs instead of the newer ones? I just read on the other forum where a member had that done and the slabs turned out perfectly.

It isn't my book. I'm sure the effect increases and decreases based on the angle of refraction.

That.... Just....won't do. It would bother me every time I looked at it. It cannot possibly be good for the comic long term. This is not something you want to pay $$ for.

It won't hurt to ask. Mostly, I just find it unacceptable that someone could look at that and think it's good to go.

Yea but to hell with presentation ... the CGC drones say it's a 9.8 so Cool Books, who cares if it looks like crap as long as the CGC Glitterati can make a buck. This is what happens when you lose all of your experience and have to run down to the local Burger King for hired help.

These new cases are actually great IF CGC could fix the multitude of issues with their QC and design.

I received a great looking book in a new CGC case. I am really happy with how it looks. Clarity is fantastic. The rigidity of the case is nice too.

But I will not submit one book until they address and fix the issues. First, they won't even address it with the exception of a few posts a week or so ago saying we are working on it. Since then more issues have come up.

Harshen goes on there to discuss Microchamber paper today but doesn't say anything about the waves, rings, micro paper showing through the covers, etc.

It's just unacceptable. I'm not bashing them because I like the company and their products also. I just wish they could get their act together.

I did see Harshen's post about the microchamber paper, but I was disappointed to see that he didn't acknowledge that they were working to correct the other faults. Honestly, I believe they are working on it, he just doesn't want to say anything until they have something more concrete. I like them, and this is the only book (out of 8 or 9 submissions) that I have had a problem with. I agree that the slabs should be nice once the proper modifications are in place. I would like to see an inner well, but that may just be me. The slabs are sturdy. Their bags are still lazy.

Does anyone else finding it shocking that many well respected dealers continue to send their books to CGC when they have done nothing to address these new case issues? I cannot believe what I am reading in the "new cgc case thread" over at the other forum.

Not exactly sure why you feel CGC has done nothing to address the issue. They are working on addressing the issues.

Hey Bob. I think the issue is that Matt came on early to speak about the Newton Rings, and since then, the issues with the waviness and book placement inside the case have popped up with no response from Matt or any other CGC yep.

With this and other forums I am very surprised that when a member posts they assume that those words are screaming across the screen to be heard by the company or person they are directed at.

I'm guessing that you assume that Matt or some other rep should be sitting at their desk reading every post and responding. Does it matter that maybe Matt has other job duties or maybe he is part of the team trying to come up with the solutions? Instant gratification, immediate results so I can move on to the next "IMPORTANT" issue.

Bob all I am saying is that I was surprised that someone has not issued a statement. That is all. If you say they that they are addressing it, then that is good enough for me.

I had a problem with one slab. Outside of that, CGC has been fine. I'm sure that the underlings over there will use their designated skill set to keep the brass over there appraised of any new information that appears on the forums. I'm sure they're working on some sort of correction.

I think you paint with too broad a brush here. Lots of posts have said they like CGC's product and them as a company. Maybe some have been overly harsh. But many, maybe even most have been at least reasonable in their criticism.

You new to the Collector Society Boards? Never seen posters there bashing others? And at least here, if someone wants to - they can say this...

"CGC is wonderful. I love them and their business, their products. The market leader for good reason."

Try changing that to "CBCS" and posting it up on the Collector Society Boards.

Oh I'm very aware of thread bashing going on in both forums.

And yes I agree you won't be seeing CBCS is a great grading company on the CGC boards.

It is CBCS's choice to allow their forum to discuss the competition.

But what exactly gets accomplished about the issue in a CBCS thread? And what would get accomplished about an CBCS issue in a CGC thread?

+1
I'm sure they're looking into it also. It would just be nice if they addressed it instead of appearing to avoid it. Seems easy enough as apposed to answering many phone calls.
