I've already made my viewpoint clear across the street, but at least get your facts straight.

This was misplacement by someone at CGC and not book movement.

That's even worse.

However, with no inner well and no seams around the book. The book will move. It's like riding in a car. If you are traveling at a rate of speed and then suddenly stop, the items that are not anchored down continue to move. Let's say that this book is doubled boxed inside a 1092 and a 1095. That box is dropped, falls off a conveyor belt, or is in a delivery vehicle that suddenly stops. When that box hits whatever it is that stops it from moving, the comic can continue to move inside the slab until it runs out of momentum or it makes its way to the edge of the holder. The cover may stay stationary and the insides might move, tearing the staples. The entire book might shift. Not something I'm willing to chance. I don't care who you or anyone else chooses to grade their books. I do care that they have enough information to make a decision that makes them happy.

Whether it was slabbed incorrectly or the book moved is really irrelevant as it still looks like crap. If the book had been in an inner well, the chances of either happening would have been greatly reduced.

Then you should care to get your facts straight and not make anything up in your imagination because you don't like someone. It was proven to be misplacement and when the owner tried tapping it down, it did not move.

End the speculation and start the process of determining what the problems are so they can be rectified. THAT is beneficial to everyone. Replace opinions with fact, and you'll be more credible

I bought a cgc books years ago ( my first one actually ) off ebay and it had that n. effect in the center of the book. It bothered me every time I looked at it because it was a b/w cover with a lot of black, until I read how to fix it with a piece of paper. I can't imagine getting a whole set of books back with the same problem, but worse, and not able to fix it.

I guess, I will not be getting the award this year. Maybe next year if they fix it.

Don't fall for Registry hype.

If someone says the book pictured above was sealed in the holder incorrectly, then fine, it was sealed incorrectly. I was wrong. It didn't move. It doesn't change the fact that a book will move inside the new cgc holder. There's nothing to stop it.

Whether I like someone or not has no bearing on the fact that the cgc released an inferior product. I have plenty of comics graded by the cgc. I have a dealer account. Currently, unless it's a key or an in demand book, cgc graded comics sold better for me than CBCS graded books. I don't hate the cgc. I have a submission ready to go to CFP_Comics that was going to the cgc. Now it's not. The new cgc case is poorly designed. It's like they took a cell phone case and snapped it around a comic book.

I completely agree. They dropped the ball, big time. As for movement, that is TBD. Haven't seen an example yet.

Well for two reasons:

#1: The most obvious reason is that CGC graded books are still commanding higher prices or faster sales than CBCS graded books of the same grade. So when it's not an issue I'm keeping for myself, or an item where every bit helps with the profit margin, I've been using CGC. Hopefully this will change soon, as personally I think CBCS is a better company overall when it comes down to it.

#2: Less of a "big deal", but when putting together a run or set of books, I'd prefer they all be as uniform as possible, especially if I intend to display them at some point. I thought that even with their new holders, if I was serious about them all looking uniform, I could always get my older books re-holdered for a minimal cost, but now I'm not so sure I want anything to do with the new holders whatsoever.

I wonder if the new holders will create a market for the 2nd generation holders to become more sought after like the 1st generation seems to be now?

That looks similar to the holder someone photoshopped into a hilarious Grateful Dead psychedelic backdrop in the CGC thread on this topic. Yeah, definitely yikes!

You need to invite The Bookery over to this board, that way he'll make you seem funny by comparison.
