Would you rather have a hole punched comic or marker scribbled on cover by child?

So using @dielinfinite Sub Mariner comic as a reference. Would you be able to "Trim" a comic using a hole puncher and get no restoration or notation on the label? LOL Seeing as that Sub mariner got no notation. I think I found a new scam... |

How much would it cost to restore It? Any guesses? I believe restored comics are worth about half their assigned grade (key issues). Then an 8.5 would be worth a 4.0 to 4.5 vice the 0.5 to 1.5 this comic will likely receive. Just a thought.

@Drogio Tough to answer. Honestly restored comics are a tough sell. I would think buying a comic knowing it was restored, you would just keep it forever. Trying to sell restored comic would give me a headache, lots of low ballers out there. If I had to sell a restored comic I would just have Stan lee sign it, lol. |

@HarRes are they actual "punched" holes like that craziness @Truck posted (or the complete abortion @diel posted)? Or are they binder tear holes (ie someone jammed it into a three ring). If its the latter, its a complete book and could get a higher grade as it would just be small tears. I've seen one of those pressed well enough that from inside slab it was very difficult to tell it had been ever been speared. |

I don't understand how the hole punches in ASM 1 didn't result in a grade lower than 2.0. Every single page is hole punched three times. That seems like such extensive damage that the book would/should have received a 1.0 or worse. Learn something new every day. |

And you can believe comics were not published for the nit picky collectors we've become. They are now, of course, but not in the 1960s |
