Low feedback bidder helping to jack up the price. At the very least it looks suspicious.

To the ultra sensitive, even upvoting a post is considered "degrading".

I would be super shocked if this was a real sale. Again not just shocked but SUPER SHOCKED.

The winning bidder has over 1500 feedbacks.

I don't see a bidder jeopardising a score like that with a bid this large.

Could it be a shill bid? Maybe, but I doubt it. Why jack up a price on a book that was showing a steady increase in bids? There's not a lot of 9.2s out there.

To the right buyer, I could see it.

One thing is for sure, we will never really know.

That is the one cool thing about Heritage Auctions. You can offer/contact the winning bidder after the auction ended. eBay won't let you contact them in any way.

I Think it has already been explained why this is a potential fake sale, but if it is not enough to see a bidders total number of feedbacks but also what he normally is bidding on a there is a big difference between bidding on a 80k comics and PokΓ©mon trading cards!

But hey I also hav a comic which is for sale for 80k if anyone interested

$80K for a Tales to Astonish 13 is plain stupid. ALL of the idiots over paying for too many vintage comic books either are 1) money laundering and/or are 2) keep thinking there are bigger fools out there than they are.

The shill begins in bold.
Up to that point it was a legit auction.

What can be done to stop shilling? If you emailed ebay about this right now I'm 99% sure they wouldn't help you. They just got a huge commission.

note that the seller is probably in on this. he has only one other comic for sale. maybe the thought process for a buyer would be that if this comic is worth 80k then this af15 is a steal at 65k

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-6-5-Silver-Age-Mega-Key-1st-Spider-Man-Hot-/182478307908?hash=item2a7c8e0244:g:Q9YAAOSwIgNXudaA

sorry but i am always suspicious when a seller only has one book for sale

Collector KingNampa private msg quote post Address this user
Yea so ebay gets $750, paypal gets $2,400 and since its over the threshold ebay has to file 1099-K to IRS and seller has to pay $20k in tax.

Not such a good deal for the seller even if it was over priced.

Maybe you should scroll back and look, I provided some detail, at some length πŸ‘πŸ»

Sorry, but a single source (even if you highly value it) saying its fraud just doesnt cut it for me. I was looking for something more than what was already said.

That was a sincere question.

You're being, as Watson said earlier, purposely obtuse.

The GPA information is only one factor in determining that this auction was fraudulent. As far as more than what was already said, if you won't believe the evidence already laid out, nothing additional is likely to convince you.

Here's the information again:

1. Look at the bidding history. Notice that there are only two bidders after $5,800. A (presumably) real bidder, and the shill. Notice how the shill is bidding. People don't bid "99" increments because they want to win...they do it because they want to lose. They're trying to expose another bidder's high bid, without going over it. Whether they bid BEFORE or AFTER, it's still a shill bid.

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=172515815431&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565

2. The "winner" didn't leave feedback. Not proof, but certainly an indication.

3. The low feedback bidder bid on a single item...this one...in the last several months, making their bidding activity with this seller 100%, and on just this item. Again, not proof, but definitely an indicator.

4. GPA, which has access to the eBay database (that everyone can get access to), came to the same conclusion, as noted by others above.

As for eBay fees, are you folks not aware that eBay fees are capped at $750 per item? And $250 for premium and higher store owners? And that it's fairly straightforward to apply for a fee refund when/if the "buyer" doesn't pay?

If you want a respectful conversation, you should be respectful, too. You weren't disrespected...you were just offended. You can be respectful yourself by calling out the disrespectful memes, which don't serve a constructive purpose.

How would the winning "bidder" be jeopardizing their score by bidding in this listing? As far as eBay is concerned, they're just bidding.

Why jack up a price? To create the impression of demand.

And why do you say we will never really know? All it takes is someone admitting what they did. It's likely we will never really know, but it's certainly not for sure.

@DocBrown Could also be the kid with Dad's credit card situation. They saw the movie and wanted the comic, so they used their parent's account to bid on it. Lol

Yes, and no. Context is everything.

Sure. We don't know the motives of the "6" bidder at the moment.
