Sold comics you wished you hadn't!2258

Have you ever sold comics you wished you hadn't?
Back when Magic the Gathering was at it's height in popularity, the Star Wars CCG came out and I just had to have them! So I started selling my best issues to get them. Issues like Sandman 1-50, Miracleman 1-9 and 15, Caliber Presents #1 and the Crow issues 1,2,3,4 (first prints), Amazing Spider-man 300. What the hell was I thinking!

I had to sell what was left of my comic collection from my teen years to try to pay off tax debt - nice group of comics all gone (except about 3 or 4 that I decided to keep anyway). Now I am back in the collecting game and have way too many . . .

I sold my CGC 8.0 white pages Vampirella #1 (1969) and immediately regretted it! Luckily, I found an even better copy (probably a 9.0), and I'm about to send it off to be slabbed.

I also regret selling my CBCS 7.0 Hulk 181.

Another time I had bought a collection just to flip. I had early Spider-man including #50, early Fantastic Four, Green Lantern #76 in VF condition and a bunch of more silver age keys ( I paid $1000 for them) all gone!

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
I had some books like ASM 300, Batman Adventures 12, or NYX 3 go up in value after I sold them but I made money and bought other books with it so regret would be a strong word.

Here are some cool books that I was happy to own that are no longer in my collection:

Mid 90s comic collection purge. I had every bronze age Key, several ASM 300 etc. sold it all dirt cheap. The worst however is embarrassing... Showcase #4. Raw, g/vg. Don't remember exactly what I got for the whole lot it but it was sure as hell under a grand 😔

I've owned and sold some pretty nice comics over the years.

I've never regretted selling any of my books. My entire personal collection is original owner books, but my "business" collection is pure speculation and stuff I refuse to get personally attached to.

When I first started my business an old shop owner gave me the best advice, it equates to never getting high on your personal supply. If I like a book, and I want it for my collection then I pay my business side full retail for it.

Wait, you mean it shouldn't haunt me? I could still find other copies in the wild? I've lost sleep for 20 years for no reason?

I regret the one comic I didn't buy. I was in for my weekly pick up and my LCS owner put a copy of WD #1 in my hands. I thumbed through it and said "I hate zombies", and didn't think about it again until I met Mrs. Orbit.

She will never let me live it down.

Around 2002 I sold off nice bunch: Hulk 1-6, Tales of suspense 39, Journey into Mystery 83, Wonder woman #3, Early FF and X-men. I thought I was making a ton of coin back then. Put the money into my 1966 Pontiac GTO. Still have the car. All relative I guess. Ray/RI
