| Okay, here is the information on the Collector Syndicate. It's a pretty neat place. If it was wanted, I'm sure everyone could just hang in a sub forum of the Collector Syndicate and post just like we do here, but there is a lot more to the CS site than the CBCS forum. If this place goes away, I'm happy we h ave the Collector Syndicate forum. The web address is www.collectorsyndicate.com Here is a copy and paste write up about the place written by skypinkblu for those of you who remember her from the old forum on the cgc web site: A few people have been asking about how this forum was started and why, how it's being funded, etc. So I'm going to give everyone some background and try to write a simple explanation. Some of us were looking for a place where comic collectors we knew could gather, many of those people were from another board where changes had been made over the past 6 months. There was a lot of work put into a board set up on Discord to host people, it has some really nice nice features like voice chatting and still does. However, this format may seem easier to work for some of us and we hope to keep links with the Discord board for live events and some things I'm not tech savvy enough to describe. We were used to another set up and MYNAMEISLEGION, just happens to know something about computers...had an awesome idea...he found the software online. He and Universal Soldier another collector with computer skills talked about setting something up. MYNAMEISLEGION signed up for a test run and then after talking to a few of us, he fronted the first month...and that's how the Collector Syndicate started. A few of us wanted to save our community and volunteered to help...and we kicked in a few $$ in order to form a Comic Book Collectors Club. We are not a business and we are not going to be a business nor are we going to try and sell anything. Everyone who signs up is part of the club, but we have written some rules which are posted and we expect people to follow. This is all pretty new, so things are going to change if they need to ...right now, less rules are good. These are the people in our planning group besides me, MYNAMEISLEGION,UNIVERSALSOLDIER, ComicDonna, Buzzetta, frozentundraguy, Rusty Shackleford, KCOComics, crassus, Dr.X ,thehumantorch, Hudson and the latest, is Dr. Balls. MYNAMEISLEGION, COMICDONNA and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER and KCO Comics are Administrators. ComicDonna has agreed to act as the lead moderator, he's only going to be available nights and weekends, so MYNAMEISLEGION, UNIVERSALSOLDIER, KCOCOMICS,HUDSON, thehumantorch and I also have mod badges. I said I would help as a mod for a year, after that someone else can take my badge. How we are handing Funding This is a club, not a business, it does not qualify for and is not a “not for profit business” so we are not trying to write anything off. It's just a group of friends. Currently we are using the Creator version of Invision, which monthly comes to $99 per month. We didn't expect quite so much content at once, so we will probably need to go to Creator Pro at some point, which is $169 a month or $1788 a year. Here is the link to Invision https://invisioncommunity.com/buy That next tier gives us 3x the amount of content and some other stuff you can read about but I don't pretend to understand. We'd like to pay yearly because it's cheaper and would prefer to have one year banked IF possible. We would also prefer to have no dues or fees and just have voluntary contributions, but we might have to reconsider IF voluntary contributions do not work. If that happens, ads or fees to sell may be considered at some point. PayPal payments , which can be personal (since this is a club) will go to (MYNAMEISLEGION), you can message him or me for his PP address or figure out some other kind of payment. So if you would like to make a voluntary contribution, it would be welcome, but of course not required. If you wish your contribution to be anonymous, you can contact me. I am keeping a spreadsheet with a complete list of donations on Google sheets which is shareable. IF someone wants to view it, just PM me for a link. Besides me, MYNAMEISLEGION and Crassus also have editing privileges. That spreadsheet has one anonymous entry. I have another spreadsheet that cannot be shared, that only I can see, that I keep as a control. That is the only place anonymous contributions will be listed. We are a club, but I still want real records just in case IRS wants to see something. One note...if you make a PP payment and your PP account is in someone else's name, please specify your board ID or your name, or some way we can figure out who is making the payment  .If you prefer to donate a book, go for it, just start a sales thread and mention it in your title. I will keep a tally here and let everyone know once we reach $3576, which should be a year's fees plus enough for next year. Please feel free to kick something in at any time even if we reach that goal...if you have a sales thread or just feel like it, but I don't plan to have another fundraiser (barring unforeseen circumstances) for at least another year. Please understand that we are all new at this...we are trying, but this is still a work in progress. We do not want to be a clone of the other place and plan to make changes to solidify differences as we work through things. Positive suggestions are always welcome. Thank you all and welcome skypinkblu (aka Sharon or Sha Edit: now that we have been around for more than 6 months, we realized that a few other expenses will come up from time to time, so this is to let you know that 10% of all funds will be set aside for "Marketing" ...game prizes, mailing, that kind of stuff, things to help the forum be a fun place to be and keep us healthy and growing! | Well gang. It was great being a part of this community. My response to the email: Thank you for the update. Honestly, this is fantastic news for me. With this announcement, I am officially done with all comic and card grading. Thank you for saving me a ton of money going forward—having no more witness fees and no more grading fees is going to be great. I also think you would have been better off dropping the PSA comic grading instead. CBCS was already established. If there were problems with the company, you should have dumped resources into fixing them rather than shutting it down and pushing PSA grading on us. For the record, I will not be switching over to PSA. Their labels are horrible, and I will never use CGC for grading either. From now on, everything in my card and comic collections will be kept raw. |

| This is sad news. I have plenty of CBCS books that I have submitted and acquired over the years. The service and case were really good. The forum was my favorite part of CBCS and I will miss it. I am happy to say that I have made friends on the forum and enjoyed many posts by some cool members over the years. | It is an unfortunate, though expected, eventuality after Collectors' acquisition of Beckett and the recent rollout of PSA's comic grading services. I'm hopeful that PSA will envelop some of the talent and best practices from CBCS' grading services into their own, as the quality of their services were superior despite market share and position for most of CBCS' existence. | It’s been a hell of a ride, everyone. I can honestly say that I have been on this forum since day one, and probably most days since then. It’s one of the first sites I check into each morning (and post to the Comic Book Day of the Year Calendar thread). I have made a ton of friends over the years, and hope that we can continue to connect and communicate on collectorsyndicate.com (I’m @EdSaravo there). I’ve made some posts there, but currently I’m not a frequent contributor. That will probably change next month, as this forum will likely be phased out. I am so sad to see CBCS brushed aside like this. Reminds of betamax versus VHS - the superior option doesn’t always win out in the end. And I definitely do not see PSA as the DVD format that wiped out tapes. See you in the funny pages! Ed |

| well - that is sad but not unexpected news. been here pretty much since day 1 when it was a start-up to it got bought by indian investor etc. it never moved away from being amateur company. even the way the announcement is handled is amateur hour. this forum is the best home for me as it is simple to scroll through (don’t have much time available). if you have any info posted here you wish to keep - may wish to download as would not be surprised if one day or just is no longer accessible. still need to decide where to do my charity sales going forward. i would like to take the opportunity to honor the many members, moderator and employees who no longer are with us. oh well - nice meeting you all and it was great while it lasted |
