Ok everyone, let’s try to use this thread for us to continue to talk to each other.

https://collectorsyndicate.com/topic/4019-friends-of-cbcs-forum/

You know, the entire CBCS sub forum could be used as the CBCS board, not just the interior of the thread you started. It would be almost just like here.
..

OK Dr Watson, let's pretend I don't know anything about forums (which I don't). What's a sub-forum, how do you make one and how does it work?

Can you create one and we...? how do we ensure that we get emails when someone posts to this sub-forum? or is that the way it normally works?

@Studley_Dudley RIP the members of ban camp.

I’ve been MIA on the boards for a while because like a few of you have said the highs and lows of collecting. Like @Studley_Dudley I’m also 42 and came up when manga was finding its way to the states in the late 80s and early 90s. So I’ve been occupied with hunting down Zasshis. To name a few, I’ll miss Marty’s collection updates, @Studley_Dudley shared love for Drek and newsstands, @esaravo always being a gentleman and the voice of reason, and @poka fire sales for charity.

These boards will be missed.

A sub forum is just a smaller forum inside a big forum for lack of a better phase. This board has no sub forums. It's more or less stream of consciousness posts.

Over on the CS site, the main forum is Third Party Grading and Restoration. The sub forum is CBCS Grading Experiences. In that sub forum, you can create a thread just like you do here.

There wouldn't need to be anything new created.

I'm not sure about notifications. There is probably something you can click on at the top of the CBCS Grading Experiences sub forum that will send an email notification when a new thread is started, but I haven't checked. I always just look as I have notifications turned off. They would drive me insane.

There is a clickable bar at the top of the CBCS Grading Experiences sub forum that you can use to turn on notifications. It's the little bell next to the word Follow with a drop down arrow.

@KatKomics
I saw Cody Lockwood post a discount code. CODY10OFF2026

I have a credit on my account and was considering sending one more book for grading, but I sent a big order in December, and have nothing that I want to grade right now.

I re-holdered most of the older, thinner slabs in my collection last summer, but I do still have 3 books left among my "keepers", that are still in the older slabs. They are signature books, so I would never crack them for any reason and loose the "witnessed" status. Those books will remain CBCS as long as in my collection, so I may as well get them in the nicer slab, while I can. Along with the credit and coupon code, my cost to re-holder all three is pretty much covered, outside shipping cost. Last chance to do that if interested, folks.

Having said that, I do have one final "forever" book that is in an old slab with the original CBCS logo. It's a witnessed Stan Lee sig, on my first silver age book I owned as a kid. I like the nostalgia of keeping that in the original slab and logo, whenever I want to look at it.

There was no announcement. The guy who presses the books said his last day was last Tuesday.

I asked who was pressing books. I was told there is no more in house pressing on the new submissions up to the April cut off.

That bit of information likely killed my final submission.

@DrWatson nice to hear. Do you think the graders will be disgruntled and give gift grades or go the opposite direction? Either way, submitting now seems like a bad idea and a potential headache that I'd like to avoid. But good luck to anyone who decides to take the risk.

The deadline was already tight.

If books need to be pressed prior to submission, forms filled out, and books received by the deadline how many could one person do between now and then?

I don't know. I didn't know it had become a one man job until a day or two ago. but I do know Manga submissions can be pressed in house. So, there's that. I'm guessing it's a different house.
