Damn this sucks on soo many levels. With this is also will be ending my grading submissions. Thank CBCS for my awesome slabs and great consistency on grading.

Yea I think we all kind of saw the writing on the wall once CBCS and PSA became owned by the same company. It was only a matter of time.

That's a real shame. I'm assuming the forum will disappear, too, or at least not get any traffic anymore.

I heard that some of the cbcs higher ups were let go earlier this week, so that explains that. This is really sad for the market and the employees.

After revising this several times, I still don't know what to say. This is so disapointing. I hope to see most of you on collectorsyndicate.com as I expect this forum won't be around much longer either.

I tried warning people when psa bought Beckett but I understand not wanting to see something you enjoy and are happy with being dissolved. Less competition is never better.

I can't imagine that PSA would let go of the established CBCS experience to focus on what they currently have... or at least who they have running it.

So very depressing. I trusted CBCS’s grade accuracy over the other guys. Will the parent company continue to offer comic grading services or is comic side of the business kaput.

The grades are accurate and I'm assuming that insurance policies will still cover books they've appraised as there's no scandal which led to CBCS being shut down. They were shutdown because they have no business savvy, terrible marketing and were never able to generate much revenue or maybe even any at all, with their product.

@Briten psa just recently launched their own comic grading service. That’s why they are shutting this down. They are keeping Beckett card grading because of it’s pedigree in that industry

Welcome to corporate America.

I once worked for a company that discarded a well-respected brand with over 60 years in the market—largely because Google search results included valid criticism of the old name. In response, the parent corporation rebranded the product entirely and invested $10 million in a new advertising campaign.

What followed was surprising, at least to leadership: the target audience neither recognized nor cared about the new brand. Despite the significant investment, the rebrand struggled to gain traction and ultimately lasted only five years before the parent company shut it down completely.

@Briten They still have PSA.

I wonder what becomes of the CBCS reps that popped in from time to time here on the forum... @Wade_Story and @Cody_Lockwood... assuming they are (were) still with CBCS when this announcement was made.

Maybe they'll get jobs at PSA or MCS. I read an article that PSA opened a Plano, TX hub about a year ago. Maybe they'll move more operations to Texas instead of staying in the high tax state of California. Or maybe there will be jobs for them at Beckett.

From what I heard, Beckett Manga will still be around. It's in a separate building.

I hope so. My brother lives about 30 minutes from the soon-to-be-former CBCS headquarters. Having him drop orders off and pick them up over the years sure saved me a ton on shipping costs.

Maybe you can purchase CBCS from PSA and start your own basement comic book slabbing business. I think that's how PGX started. And it just hit me, PGX is still in existence, but not CBCS.....

damn this sucks, I loved CBCS slabs and how they displayed.

I wanted to get some more signatures at cons but they stopped going, but least I can say I got some good stuff slabbed by them and will keep them in my collection for years to come.

Who knows will be rare to see CBCS slabs down the line and may be a thing to own.
