WEEKLY COVER CONTEST #499: The Spider Signal!22251

I live in RI and Rhode Islanders eat chili with beans. esaravo private msg quote post Address this user
The rules:
You vote three check marks for your FIRST favorite cover, Two check marks for your SECOND favorite, and One check mark for your THIRD favorite. You do not need to vote for three covers, but it is strongly encouraged!!! However... DO NOT VOTE EARLY!!! (Read on...)

Let's have fun with this!
A new theme will be chosen each week, so participants must find a comic book that fits the theme.
- One entry per person.
- Must be real comic books in circulation.
- Magazine size books are also okay.
- The book does not have to be in your collection.
- Variants are acceptable.
- The previous winner is allowed to win in this contest.

Each week we will vote on who had the best cover.
- Friday begins the new contest.
- Voting begins Wednesday at 12 noon EST which is the cutoff for submissions.
- Voting ends Thursday at 11:59 PM EST.
- Please vote through the built-in "three check marks" system described above.
- Don't vote early!
- The winner will be the cover with the most check marks.
- Vote three check marks for your favorite cover, two for your second favorite and one for your third favorite.

The winner will choose the next theme and begin a new thread.

Note: "The contest winner has 48 hours (by Sunday 9pm EST) to post the new cover contest. If the winner does not post a new cover contest, the 2nd place/runner up contestant can post the new contest."

In the event of a tie, the deciding factor will be if the entry was of a book in a CBCS slab (only one book in the set needs to be graded; if multiple are CBCS graded then the highest grade applies). If both books are in a CBCS slab (or neither are) then the cover with the most three star votes wins. If they are still tied, then the one with the most 2 star votes wins. If the tie remains, then a sudden death contest will decide the winner. All tied contestants are to enter a new cover based upon the theme of that contest. At 9 pm EST, Friday, the cover with the most votes wins

This week’s contest: With Spider-Man Brand New Day dropping trailers and getting people interested in Spidey again, let’s see your covers showing the Spider Signal in all its glory.

No issues of Spidey, but found something spotlighting a web signal with plenty of ZIP in it...

Will the forum live to see the results? That's the real question.

With comic submissions being taken until April 17th, I would say so.

But will they care about keeping the Forum active till that date? I wouldn't think so. So much easier to kill something than to nurse it till it dies, And cheaper.

I don't really know what I'm talking about, just taking educated guesses.

The CBCS Population Report will remain available, and previously graded CBCS comics will remain documented in the CBCS database and population report. So, that is kind of what I'm using to make my guess.

I do think that we shouldn't start a new one. We can reboot it with a new #1 on the CS board or start with #500.

@ShallaBal It seems as though you are the winner. We are in the process of moving the contest to the Collector Syndicate site. I don't think you have joined yet, or if you intend to join.

The idea is to put the contest on hold until everything gets hammered out and then resume with your choice of theme for contest #500 on the CS website.

Thoughts? Ideas? Right on! Hell no!

@ShallaBal congrats!

I also agree with @DrWatson -- let's start fresh over at CS.

@ShallaBal, Congrats!

I'm fine either way regarding the restart of the context. I do like moving it since it's a nice round number. The only concern is if @ShallaBal is not moving with the rest of us. If not, it would only be fair (in my mind) to let @ShallaBall create the last contest on this site.

Ultimately I hope we all, or most, end up on the other side as one big unhappy family. Happy to be together, unhappy for the way things turned out.

If you want to do #500, that's fine, but time might be of the essence.

Thanks all--so is the consensus to go to the other site, and continue the contest there?

I would say we may have time to complete cover contest #500 here but personally, I wouldn't chance it....but certainly contest #501 should definitely be on CS.

Okay, I signed up at the other place. It says I must wait until I receive an official email notice from CS before I'm approved. I am online there as a guest now.

UPDATE:
I'm not sure how long this approval process takes...should someone else get the ball rolling there and start the new contest?
