Which Would You Let Go Of … ?22230

I have a chance to pick up a Tarzan #1 tomorrow (Dell, 1948).

I was thinking of bringing a Dell Wolfman book as partial trade.

1 have first print in 8.0 and a second print in 9.2.

Of these two, which would you be willing to let go of in trade? I’m leaning towards the 2nd print, despite the higher grade.

2nd print. I dont know the specifics of these two books but first prints take priority over 2nd prints for me everytime....keep the first print, trade the 2nd print.

That’s a tough choice. Which one would be harder to replace? I might lean toward keeping the higher graded copy, because there are fewer available copies in that grade. Looking at the CGC census, there are only 8 copies graded higher. Looking at the census for the first printing, there are 22 higher graded CGC copies and one CBCS copy. In addition, the higher graded copy probably presents much better than the lower graded one.

To me, a 2nd print is a type of reprint. I'll always prefer a 1st prints over reprints/2nd prints.

Put both up for sale and see which one goes first.

However, without seeing them or knowing which one would be harder to replace, I'd keep the first print. That said, experience has taught me that some second prints are harder to track down than the first printings.
