Steve reached out to me today after my MANY texts and voicemails!
He apologizes for what has happened, he has been going thru terrible times this year!
He said he will make everything right to those who he took money from starting on 1/5/2026. He realizes he has screwed up royally and will make amends for it
I offered to help him in any capacity I can.

I wish Steve the best. This has been the hardest year of my life and I'm going through a lot as well so don't take it too hard on me for what I'm about to say.

If the 6 month window is closing, you should consider initiating a refund through PayPal, venmo, etc. Steve can always send another bill and start the process over again.

What if he again says he's shipping the books out, you wait a week and that window is now closed?

That is the best possible advice you will receive. Depression does not end on a scheduled date. By getting your refund via paypal etc you may actually be helping Steve as it will decrease some of the associated tension and anxiety as well as his burden.

Sounds like our guy cashed in on all the goodwill he built up around here over the years. I'm sorry to everyone who got burned- I hope you get your stuff or a refund soon. I certainly wouldn't trust him in the future.

Ive never physically met Steve in person. However, I have spoken to him numerous times over the years and would consider him a friend. He has offered his advice and insight into collecting comics, of which, mine are obscure and esoteric.
I value his opinion and his friendship that he has offered. Whatever is going on I am sure he will resolve. Any family or personal issues that may be weighing on him, I can only hope he comes out well. Best wishes to him and his family during the holidays.

It's a sh!t situation all the way around but you shouldn't kick a guy when he's down either....he's in contact with people stating he'll make it right next week...let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry, not trying to be a jerk. I probably came off that way though. I just don't like seeing people get ripped off. If he can't ship the books, then cancel the orders and refund everyone's money. It's that simple.

Steve, if you are struggling- I hope you find your way out of it.

well wishes and all...but as others have said - why not cancel/refund the sales - problem mostly solved.

If anyone really wanted he could give them first pop when he is in a proper state to complete the transactions.

Reputations and goodwill take a lifetime to build but only moments to be ruined - hopefully this doesn't progress into a similar situation to that Hero Restoration incident. I feel bad for all involved

I just spoke with Steve in length. I consider him a friend and have known him for years. He reiterated he is doing better now and the last six months were challenging. I wont going into detail.
As @Stantheman stated in the first part of this thread he told me he plans on getting everything shipped out on or around 1/5/26, and/or refunding people. Whichever they want.

Hey guys,

I have known Steve or "hippie" as I call him, now for 21 years. And to say he has been going through it these past 6 months is an gross understatement.

Not going to make any excuses for him. It has been beyond an acceptable time frame to have shipped everyone's items out. So as stated above, if you don't want to continue to wait, then initiate a refund from your payment source.

Then you can be at peace and have your cash back.
Probably take some stress off of Steve as well.

I spoke to him on Monday and he told me he has the few items that have not been shipped, all ready to go.
Hope he does and gets them shipped out on Friday as he told me he was going to do.
If he does, you should have your items by or before Friday January 9th 2026'.

If you wait, and still have not received your items by the 9th, just request a refund and be done with it.

Some forms of payment, such as PayPal Friends and Family or Zelle aren't available for refund requests. That's why those forms of payment are not allowed as requested forms of payment for board transactions. Also, due to the length of time, the option of a dispute may no longer be an applicable solution.

The individuals that paid that way or have missed the dispute window are beholden to Steve to either ship their items or initiate a refund from his end.

I have requested payment for items through Zelle in the past for board transactions, but I will not be doing that in the future for my protection as well as the buyers.

I wish Steve a speedy recovery and hope his 2026 is better than his 2025 and he finds himself back on his feet once again.
