I did it last year. The only real advantage is the ability to get to the artists before everyone else. Last year since CBCS wasn't there I concentrated on commissions. Being in early means you get to get in the line early. I got an incredible piece in my sketch book by Daryl Banks, a sketch on my Grayson #1 by Tim Seeley, an incredible piece on my blank Titans #1 by Chrissie Zullo Uminga and a cute Ace the bat hound on Batman: The Detective #1 by Trish Forstner. I also received some other pieces in my sketch book but nothing near the quality of these pieces.

I'll probably buy another VIP this year and hopefully CBCS will be there this time. Commissions will be my top priority again because there is no where else you can get so many pieces at one show.

I am not gonna do it every year but was offered it as an early Christmas gift. when they'd let advance in early I usually did was get on line or use time to scope floor when not crowded.

one year I knew Jason Latour was going to have a long line (spider-gwen was around 2 years at that point). got on line first. by the time the show started, he got there and was ready there was a good sized line behind me

in the past with exception of last would do cbcs table first. get it out of the way before it began and before lines

might use hour to get one the line I want a sig most that will have biggest line

but I wanted to try VIP at least once. if it's worth it...great. if not completely will know

I think VIP tickets are a little bit scammy, but I also think I am going to get one this year. Most years I know multiple vendors who have extra wristbands, but it's been so bad for most of them since COVID that I don't know anyone going yet. Some told me point blank last year that they could not afford to come back, since sales were so poor.

CGC has a three year exclusive deal with Shelton. I'm not particularly happy about it. But all my books from this year were graded by CBCS; when the show gets closer, contact Cody to see what facilitators will be going.

Thanks for the reminder. It's been a busy year for me, so I completely forgot about checking in on the availability of the VIP tickets. I just went ahead and purchased mine, very excited to be going for the first time ever!

My family is supposed to be in the area for vacation and we are going to try to hit the Friday. Just don't think we can make the weekend work. I've never been so I at least have to check it out!

That sucks. Do they have exclusives in 2026 for Megacon and Baltimore again?

not sure. last year at heroes con I ended up using the money I'd get to grade to buy Star Wars #1 (1977) reprint (3rd printing), the issue of Batman Jason Todd dies and an already graded.

next year plan on doing same thing. go to a smaller con to get comics graded

VIP tickets can be a mixed bag.
They're great for conventions like Baltimore where Marc Nathan ensures that dealers (and those with dealer badges) are kept off the artist lines until the VIPs enter first. He's keenly aware of that game dealers play.

Unfortunately, in many convention venues the organizer doesn't give a you know what and you find yourself still at a point in the line where you might not get a sketch. Because there's 15 people in front of you that you can't understand how they got there and realize later "ohhhhh.... they have dealer badges".

Not to mention dealers are already on the floor at other dealers buying and trading the best comics well before doors open for VIPs; let alone those with regular convention tickets.

The new scam is dealers get a dealer badge, AND they purchase a VIP badge. They get on the line early because they're on the show floor early and then they change badges to the VIP badge so they don't get tossed off the line for being dealers. They think they're so smart but the smart convention organizers are onto them.

I've seen all the bullsh*t games these so called honest & straightforward dealers play

well they don't advertise signing advantages besides get a hour early. last year they had a sperate VIP thing for Romita Jr, private event for autographs, etc

I look at the heroes con vip as simply
1 hour early entry
t-shirt
poster (which depending on image will get signed)
tote bag
bigger unique badge/lanyard (I do keep them)

anything extra will be extra

@power_struggle55 understood. And vip has made me quite happy over the years, generally speaking. I hope you do well with the hour early.

Im just trying to point out some caveats, recently, that could lead to disappointment and arent well known. I've been there as an artist commission seeker also. When you learn what scummy dealers sometimes secretly do, it can be a gut punch and I hate to see that happen to fans.

The poster will probably be signed already. Back when I started going, pre-registered 3-day tickets were essentially what this VIP ticket is, and the prints were always signed and numbered. The really cool part was that they were given out in the order the tickets were sold, so you knew when your ticket was sold versus the total print run.

I went ahead and got a VIP ticket for myself; everyone else in my group, I will buy a regular 3-day in a few months. I also put in my hotel reservation, because those go faster than the tickets do.

I'm going to be getting back from a five day cruise on the Sunday before the con, so I should be tan and relaxed.

good to know. this post was basically for what you said, not just a "I buy an expensive ticket" but to see if any of you have any experience.
