| ha!! 5th short box had double signed (Perez/Wolfman) Crisis books and signed V for Vendetta (Lloyd) was soooo long ago I got these signed...for the Crisis books I only had my worse copies signed because I didn't want to "ruin" my good copies!!!! so they are all like 7s and 8s plus or minus (and a few Canadian copies sprinkled in)...only had the one set of Vendetta though so those are all 9+ Basically all worthless books yet somehow also key?? maybe I send in with no press and straight to MCS...First Issues I will keep though!!! |

| I often don't press anymore; particularly when there are other defects on a book that in my assessment of the book, will retain the same grade or only bump it one grade higher (at absolute best). Even if a book is ultimately for me only, I am still cognizant of the financial value of the end product. And these pressing and cleaning fees certainly ain't what they started out being. Not even close. |

| A standard press and clean on a 1975 or later book through CBCS is $15. All things considered, I don't see this as a huge expense. It's even less expensive if you wait for a discount code. On the other hand, you could probably email Cody for a discount code and not have to wait. I just checked with CFP and Moderns are $8 and $10. $8 is for books that only need a press. Vintage start at $15 and after $2,500.00 they are 1% of FMV. Of course if you are submitting to CBCS, you can ship everything at once. One stop shopping. CFP can entail some extra shipping costs unless subbing to the cgc. Point being, press and clean fees aren't astronomical. |

| If one has assessed a modern, and seen enough issues that will not get the 9.8 even with press, I encourage to proceed cautiously and do research with sales of modern books in lesser grades. Pressing, only to get 9.4's, 9.6's, 9.2's and so on, may not be fiscally responsible based on the deltas of sales between the various non-9.8 grades. Very thin margins these days, and additional resistance to graded book purchases (my observations as both a physical & online seller) makes even the $15 press something to consider. I never said not to do it, but $15 is $15 and that may just be the amount that results in a slight loss when all the fees are added, if due diligence is not done. Assess what a book is currently without a press. Assess what it could likely be with a press. Create scenarios if you're wrong with a potential high and potential low. Review completed sales in all the current and potential high and low grades, and then determine if the $15 is worth the chance. That $15 across a boatload of moderns could end up being a not-so-nice loss these days if 9.8s are not achieved. |
