Was USPS delivering mail today?

Was CBCS open today?

Or are/we're both closed for President's Day?

USPS doesn’t deliver today, and it wouldn’t surprise me if CBCS is closed today too.

How does Absolute Batman have so much hype? I haven’t read it because ive given up on new comics. All I see is another reboot and reintroduction of established characters.

@poka every thread is "getting quiet." There are a couple of legacy threads that I never though would wither, but the "ID this cover" was silent for a while recently. I don't know if it's just a lot less members than before or maybe the subject matter has run its course? Not sure, but things are very different than even a year or two ago. I enjoy reading any new information and curious about learning more about comics when possible. Things will never go back to COVID activity but it would be nice if there was more action on the boards. I also wonder if the lack of postings somehow equates to a lack of submissions to cbcs? just curious.

Everyone is waiting for someone else to post something. If you want conversation, you have to make conversation.

Plus, people have other interests, other focuses. Everyone is busy. New Englanders are busy shoveling snow... again.

CBCS's seemingly tight grading and lack of any recent discount codes isn't much help either.

Even the new Collector Syndicate forum has long periods of downtime. In addition, we're old. There's not much new to talk about. About the best to hope for is a Remember When moment sponsored by Pepperridge Farms.

You're asking about a early Phantom comic?

Issue 1 in lower grade then this book will set you back roughly $10k.

I picked up a new issue about two years ago while visiting family back in Australia.

At a news stand, probably the only comic still hitting a newsagents at this time.

Issue 1975, even with legacy numbers Action comics and Detective comics still haven't gotten up to almost 2k numbers.

Oh I see, it says trimmed?

A bit pricey for restored.

But they are rare even in this condition so maybe not.

Yeah - I see less and less activity in the forum. Guess hardly surprising as people retiring from the forum are not "replaced" with newcomers

I'm from Australia originally and the first ten issues are rare.

And so are issues under one hundred.

You have to take into account the population of Australia. So print runs were not like the States so I suspect printings of maybe 20-50k back then prior to TV. And like most magazines they were not saved.

I know that the paper quality used was poor so might not that many survived but still.

Anyway - I posted in an Australia comic group for awareness and got reply within 5 min. So more copies might be up for sale soon
