| Take a piece of Scotch tape, maybe stick it to your pants first to tone down the sticky, place it over the residue keeping hold of one end of the tape, rub it gently on the adhesive spots, and then very slowly pull the tape up. The residue should stick to the tape. This works best on hard, slick cardstock covers. | ||

It's like the Roach Motel for comic collectors.

| I have frequently used Goof Off or similar remover with great success, if properly done. This is presuming the cover has a somewhat glossy finish. I dab it on with my fingertip, barely coating it. I wait 5 minutes and wipe it off with a tissue or paper towel. Might have to repeat a time or two. In the early times, when I first tried this, I waited too long. It soaked in, leaving a stain. But even then, the stain "evaporated" after a few months. |

| this is from the internet AI I saw a video a couple of years ago it shows how to use it. It was specifically a piece of tape on a comic book. It should work but watch the video, seems pretty easy. To remove tape from a comic book, the most recommended solvent is Bestine, a mild rubber cement and adhesive remover. Other professional and amateur restorers have also used solvents like naphtha and lighter fluid, though these carry more risk. . |
