I thought I would post this topic in case any of you are also Joe collectors or just want to look back at some of the action figures that you may have had during your childhood. Many of the pieces are the highest graded examples. Pretty cool and nostalgic. Also, I am not the owner or seller of any of the items listed. Some may remember the Russell Branton Star Wars Collection auctions that Hakes held before the Pandemic started. Apparently he was also a GI Joe collector and now he is parting with that collection. Here is the Direct Link Enjoy! |

Opinions please….. Would you buy from hakes or eBay if it’s the same thing? Assuming all things equal and trustworthy seller? Hakes has buyers premium fee though I think |

I'd buy from Ebay if it's a lower price. Hake's has a lot of excessive charges, including high shipping imo. At least with ebay you know exactly what you are paying before you bid on an item or put it in your cart. This was the shipping cost for 4 items: ![]() Shipping for 7 items was more reasonable given the total value: ![]() This was in 2021 so I'm sure costs of shipping have gone up. |

@multi007 - I have bought from both. Hakes does NOT have its own bidding team to bid up items like some other auction houses. Price wise, sure there are hefty bidder fees, but if you can buy something at 300 without fees or $260 after the fees are added,… Bottom line, just factor the fees when bidding. |

Here is the thing that amazes me. Almost every one of the pieces in that auction, are Factory Sealed. I know if I had received, for instance, that GI Joe glider for Christmas, birthday, or whatever, I would have almost immediately opened that box, put that bad boy together, and ran outside to fly it. Apparently, there are 6 graded and encased examples of factory sealed units. How? And on the action figures, it’s the same. I ask, back in the 70’s, 80’s, or even the 90’s, did any of you get these toys and just not open them up? Seriously, if you are one who didn’t open it, why? I just can’t fathom it. | ||
