Didn’t know this was a problem. I always thought so called pulp and assorted magazines containing science fiction, fiction, cartoon and comedy books all fell under the same umbrella after all
Is a EC book/magazine actually a “comic” book. There’s no comedy in it.
I have newsprint type papers that are actually comic book related containing pages of Superman. Little Abner peanuts etc…etc. etc. they can also be the little flip books out of the 30s 40s and 50s.or paperback books or hardcover books full of comic pictures and stories. I actually have a hard cover book from the 1700’s that is pictured like comic books, sized the same and is a light hearted story about a fictional king and queen. So if you were to put a paper cover on it it could be considered a comic book. So I guess it’s really hard to determine what is really a comic book.

Maybe this should be brought up for a vote. Or just forget about it and vote on the cover art.

The way I see it, if someone doesn't like the entry posted, then don't vote for it. It's the same way if someone posts an entry you feel doesn't match the theme of the contest. Don't vote for it.

It seems odd that pulps have been posted time and again in the previous contests, but no one called them out until one won the contest.

Again, just post the cover you feel like posting. As a voter, if you don't like it, for whatever reason, don't vote for it. Seems simple to me.

If you don't have a good theme idea already floating around in your head, winning can be a bit of a burden, lol.

I think it’s all good. It the weekly “cover” contest and the rules state “magazine size ok” which I think is open to interpretation. I don’t recall ever seeing a treasury posted and OG TMNT is somewhere in between. Pulp and magazine covers posted have been comic book type content anyway. Honestly GA and older could classify as pulp since it was trash entertainment meant to be discarded when done.

Just make up anything.

This week's it's snakes.

You can choose spiders.
Octopuses
Cats
Birds

Any theme like onlookers.
Bicycles
Rockets
Fire and flame covers.
Forests

Almost anything you can think of has been printed on a comic book cover the last 75 years or so

Same....I try not to repeat themes as well.

What I do to come up with a theme is, I'll already know the book I want to use for the next contest (one we hopefully havent seen in the contest before).....I study the cover and pull out a few themes this book has and then do a search on the previous winners stickied thread and see if I'm repeating.....way easier in my opinion.

@Zombie_Head just post a bronze age horror cover with some type of skull/skeleton. That gives you about an 81% chance of winning. Then you get to pick the topic and make the rules.
