You vote three check marks for your FIRST favorite cover, Two check marks for your SECOND favorite, and One check mark for your THIRD favorite. You do not need to vote for three covers, but it is strongly encouraged!!! However... DO NOT VOTE EARLY!!! (Read on...) Let's have fun with this! A new theme will be chosen each week, so participants must find a comic book that fits the theme. - One entry per person. - Must be real comic books in circulation. - Magazine size books are also okay. - The book does not have to be in your collection. - Variants are acceptable. - The previous winner is allowed to win in this contest. Each week we will vote on who had the best cover. - Friday begins the new contest. - Voting begins Wednesday at 12 noon EST which is the cutoff for submissions. - Voting ends Thursday at 11:59 PM EST. - Please vote through the built-in "three check marks" system described above. - Don't vote early! - The winner will be the cover with the most check marks. - Vote three check marks for your favorite cover, two for your second favorite and one for your third favorite. The winner will choose the next theme and begin a new thread. Note: "The contest winner has 48 hours (by Sunday/Monday 9pm EST) to post the new cover contest. If the winner does not post a new cover contest, the 2nd place/runner up contestant can post the new contest." - thanks @GAC In the event of a tie, the deciding factor will be if the entry was of a book in a CBCS slab (only one book in the set needs to be graded; if multiple are CBCS graded then the highest grade applies). If both books are in a CBCS slab (or neither are) then the cover with the most three star votes wins. If they are still tied, then the one with the most 2 star votes wins. If the tie remains, then a sudden death contest will decide the winner. All tied contestants are to enter a new cover based upon the theme of that contest. At 9 pm EST, Friday, the cover with the most votes wins. **Please No Early Voting** Love him or loather him, James Charles Shooter had an immense impact on comics. He started writing and drawing comics at the age of 13, and after submitting them through the mail to DC, he became a paid writer for DC at the age of 14! His first paid work was for the Legion of Superheroes story (and pencil breakdowns) in Adventure Comics #346 in 1966. Some of his contributions to the Legion included the creation of Karate Kid, Ferro Lad, Princess Projectra, and the Fatal Five. He also worked on Action Comics, Superman, Superboy, and others. Eventually, he made his way to Marvel, joining them as an assistant editor and writer in 1976. Within two years he became Marvel's ninth editor-in-chief at the age of 27. During his tenure at Marvel, he oversaw Claremont's run on X-Men, Miller's Daredevil, Byrne's Fantastic Four, and Simonson's Thor, just to name a few. He eventually wore out his welcome at Marvel, and went on to make his mark with Independents such as Valiant, Defiant, and Broadway Comics. He passed away on June 30, 2025 at the age of 73. For this week's contest post any comic that he was involved in, signed, or even appeared in (or on the cover). |
