With a 45 serial number, I wonder if it is a banana hammock.

Wild times. One day I hope to have "Screw You Money" where I can make purchases like this.

Even if I had screw you money, I don't think I would just by the cover. I'd save up for a week or two for the entire book.

Good point! Could very well be the reason for such a high price.

Do you think a married copy of AC1 would sell for more than the sum of just a cover and a coverless book?

I think it would.

I can never get why people would bid for a cover or a page. If it was coverless that's different.

for that book; I get it. There are not many and what comes up sale is very desirable. Of course we all want a complete copy, but this is one where a page or cover is a nice piece of comic history if you have the cash. Who knows; maybe the buyer(s) have a coverless copy to restore. Auction value TBD.

The page pieces that came up for sale awhile back? Unverifiable trash that I can’t believe got CGC’d, but I also believe CGC believes they did the “right thing” for money.

How can just the cover of a book get “white pages?!” There are no pages!! They should have just stated “white” to be more accurate. lol

if I had that money, I'd rather get an intact copy of something good.

its cgc, they probably would've given it a 6.0 but felt that might be a tiny bit of a stretch

A bit ridiculous on its' face, you're obviously right about that.

That said:

A comic book cover is a wrap. Considering there are no interior wraps present, CGC's label designation is ostensibly correct.

Whomever bought this slab, certainly overpaid for it.

I recall a Action 1 CGC graded copy having a record low sale within the past year but I couldn't find that sale in GPA.....I can't recall what the grade was...but I think it was a .5 to a 2.0.

What I did find is a lack of sales data for about the last 10 to 20 years On .5 Action 1's.

Lots of recorded sales on single pages and so on.

If one were to interpret a couple of single pages selling for around $25k, and Metropolis' sale of just a cover scrap of the number "1" from an Action 1 cover at $7,101 in 2022....than, sure.....this "white pages" cover only was a good buy.

FWIW, this Heritage Action .5 auction is the last comparable sale for Action 1 in .5 that I see in GPA. To avoid more screenshots, it sold for $408,000:

To be fair, you can read just as much of this one as any slabbed copy.
