FYI: Recall Alert: They Choose Violence #121805

Forum Crier OGJackster private msg quote post Address this user
(I MISSED OUT ON ORDERING THIS ONE)

A recall alert has been issued by AWA Studios about tomorrow’s release, They Choose Violence #1. No reason is given, but they ask for the books to be destroyed and a new printing will be released.

Copies of They Choose Violence #1 are being pulled from online stores. Both the Razzah A cover and the Kyle Baker B cover.

No reason was given for the recall, if it was an editorial oversight or an error. May be worth grabbing a copy before they disappear.

Here is the recall notice:

Due to an unexpected misprint, we are asking that all copies of THEY CHOOSE VIOLENCE #1 be pulled from shelves ahead of tomorrow’s planned release, and destroyed — violently, of course.

A corrected reprint is in process, and we’ll share the new release timeline as soon as it’s locked. We’re just as eager as you are to get this bold new series into your hands — thank you for your patience, your support, and your understanding.

All the best,

The AWA Sales Team
The original solicitation follow:

Laneka, Deidre and Karen, three HBCU besties turned professional career women, enraged by the systemic injustice plaguing their community, band together to form a vigilante squad that targets White Supremacists deemed to have circumvented the justice system and gotten away with protected murder. Serving up grisly justice in increasingly creative ways, the vigilante posse becomes front-page news while always staying one step ahead of the law. It’s liberating, it’s addictive and it’s kinda fun – until a copycat killer emerges. They Choose Violence asks what happens when you go down the dark, unforgiving road of revenge? What happens when the only path forward is escalation? There’s no turning back now – for anyone.

Color me skeptical. The cynic in me smells a PR stunt. Can’t imagine many dealers will pull it from the shelves without gaging demand first. Who doesn’t love a good recalled edition?

I feel recalled versions is the cheapest of any reason to get graded. yes it sparce but its a random comic. limited release, rare variant, etc is different but a comic that was recalled doesn't scream rare. if enough people bought before, there is plenty

be more like the release before and after are variants

Me. Lowest common denominator for purchasing a comic book.

OLD NEWS at this point, but since I just read my copy today and found it was the recalled version, here is what the problem was:

There is a printing error on page 6, which shows the content from page 8 (confusing when you see two pages with the same content almost back-to-back when reading); page 6 should show six panels of protestors holding signs in various cities.
