Wow, after all these years. But how do you make this movie without John Candy, or even Joan Rivers? | ||

That leaves Bill Pullman who would likely do it, Daphne Zuniga I don't think has done much since so likely and Mel Brooks who is 98 which lets be honest, if he makes it to 2027 (release year) will be a shocker. My guess will be more of a spoof of the sequels with new characters. maybe Lonestar and Vespa having smaller roles. Maybe mention Barf in passing at the ripe old age of 12 or have Dot's lifeless body (since a robot) collecting dust |

Yet another sequel no one asked for. ![]() There are just some movies that stand the test of time on their own. |

I'm torn...there is a new Spinal Tap?? and now this???!!! I get it...people are old and made poor life choices so some extra $$$ is on the table because there are no new ideas...take the cash.... Just not sure I want to be part of it... The originals were one off gems...these, no matter how good they are.. can't match the originals and may only serve to lessen their greatness.... Where is our Citizen Kane or Gone with the Wind sequel!!! |

And I mentioned to her where is Gone with the wind sequel? Sometimes you only strike gold once And other times the movies are so perfect at the time with script and actors at the right place and right time that it can never be improved or even replicated decades later.. |

Example Willy Wonka Gene wilder was perfect, you had no idea how he would react to the kids or if he was a danger to them.. A perfect performance and though Johnny Depp is a great actor if I was him I wouldn't ever try to reprise a role and a movie that was perfect at the time. Right script and right actors at the right time.. |

I used to think the same thing in that a remake or sequel somehow diminishes the original or prequel....I've since done a complete 180 on that based on a James O'Barr interview I read....the interviewer asked O'Barr how he felt about Hollywood ruining his work (referring to the Crow sequels)....he said "Hollywood hasn't ruined shit....my work is right here (motioning to his original Crow comics). This resonated with me because he is 100% correct...whatever anyone does creatively, after the fact....follow up or remake of a classic....doesn't and shouldn't, impact the original work at all.....that original work hasn't changed and is there for your viewing/reading/listening pleasure forever. I certainly do not love Star Wars any less because of subpar releases after 1983. |

I in just because he’s wearing “Spaceballs: the sweatshirt” ![]() With the history of Mel Brooks films; I’m sure he’s doing it just because he wants to. I’m also certain the over the top, tongue in cheek slap stick, corny one liners, and ridiculousness that will ensue will be worth a watch. It’s a style so few do so well. Abrahams’ Hot Shots had its moments, but so much was crammed in every scene that it’s so painful to watch while naked gun and airplane have much better timing (imo). Mel brooks’ timing is excellent even if the joke is lame and every one them has its place. If it’s keeping him active and alive for couple more years; then God bless him. |
