Been a while so wanted to provide an update from Hong Kong selling books/Art Hong Kong Post stopped with accepting packages for the USA since April since the de minimis rule were abolished for HK/China. Reason being is that USPS requires HK Post to collect all imposed tariffs etc which HK Post do not wish to do. This one seems to be taken some time to resolve Since end of April Ebay has implemented the following policies for HK based sellers selling items to the USA: 1) Not allowed to list any items with a value above $800 2) Not allowed to ship using any Postal Services whatsover. Has to be with either Ebay own provider (SpeedPak) or Courier 3) All shipments need to be DDP mode (ie Seller responsible for all and any tariffs) 4) Funds for all sale is put on hold for between 1 month (minimum) and 2 months -------- 1)Basically, any items more than $800 cannot be sold through ebay 2) Cannot use Speedpak as this service is treating original shipping country same as manufacturing country, so this service can not be used for items of USA origin. As most Comics are produced in USA (could go into a discussion about Canada vs USA for modern books) there were never any tariffs on Comic books (nor would there today) for most comics. The de minimis rule were never used 3) This is a challenge. Very few services in HK provides DDP mode 4) From what I gather Ebay has started the process to put funds on hold for all sellers globally. if you have not been hit yet - you will eventually. So - in short. Still around - still buying/selling books. Still trying to find appropriate shipping services for the USA which is reasonable priced. |
