I don't want to brag, but cashiers are always checking me out. power_struggle55 private msg quote post Address this user
Last year we organized a fun meet up after day 2 at Monarch's. I thought it went well. anyone up to it again this year. doesnt have to be monarch's. plenty of places in the charlotte area

-a new new york style pizza restaraunt that sells pizza by the slice. that opened recently next to monarchs
-there is a more expensive pizza place thats less casual in the park by convention center
-last year someone brought up a cajin place
-monarch again

its 2 1/2 months away. we can start discussing details.

Last year's meet up was fun.

I am up for another one if I make it to the show this year.

we are a month and half away. I think if we are gonna do another meet up. we should start discussing.

Options in the area hasn't changed much since last year. Everyone liked Monarch but maybe this year go somewhere else.

there is a new York style pizza place that sells buy the slice (no whole pies) that opened since last year right next to Monarch (where we eat last year). you go up to counter and order

We could go yo the same place but I wouldn't mind pizza either.

I finally decided within the last week or so that I am going back to Charlotte.

Count me in.

Anyone going to NYCC this year ; we should do the same. If not lunch , just a get together/ introduction at the show.

I go to NYCC every year.

Getting tickets seems to get trickier each time.

I wish I could go to nycc. but the cost of tickets, then cost to get there, hotel, etc would break the bank before I spend a single dime at the show. at least heroes con I live in the city, so hotel and getting there isn't a problem.

actually my grandma knows one of the founders of NYCC. he wrote a book. Have a copy signed by him

After rushing to fill out all of the forms for 695 books and 3 magazines submitted at Philly, Heroes seems so far away as I get so much time to prepare for the show.

Wild two days to Philly and back including the Mel Gibson line.

I know the feeling. just started figuring out who to see and what to bring. wont be as much as past years. going to bring my Uncanny X-men #185 (issue storm lost her powers) to get signed by Romita Jr. (last year had Claremont sign. when it comes to big names who charge good money. pay for one, and bring back next year for other if they are regulars

this year bringing $100 more than usual to buy an already graded since cbcs wont be there, I refuse to pay cgc to grade. Id rather buy a graded (even by them), hoping to find something in my wishlist (grade doesn't have to matter. if I can find a comic Ive been wanting from 70s that's a 4.0 within budget will get)

Dan Jurgens- is back this year. now I know 1st comic is free, 2nd he charges so bringing one thing to get signed

not food related but if you are in Charlotte the night day before. a local theater a little past where we ate last year will be showing empire strikes back at 7pm the night before. its a small theater that opened earlier this year to have small stage shows and movies screenings (think of an old fashion movie theater)

they did a new hope on may 4th

we are 19 days away. lets try and figure out a good meetup place.

the new pizza place (next to where we ate last year) is good and reasonable priced ($5 a slice) but no pies. dont have large tables. its small tables around the place

Monarch was popular last year but we got lucky with finding a large table

Alexander Michaels is a really good pub/restaraunt and will have tables that can fit but is about luck and its further away

there is a pizza place and an indian (i think) restaraunt in the park accross the way from the convention center. Im sure tables wont be a problem but dont know about prices

sborock mentioned a cajin place last year that you'd need to drive to

there is a frnech restaraunt nearby, got good tables. I can reserve a day in advance. closeby but expensive

its looking like a small group this year so where we eat shouldn't matter. the pizza place next to where we ate last year sells buy the slice, has every topping you can think of, has deep dish and sicilian.

lets just meet up that sat. judge how many are going then decide. if its a small group then options are easier, large group like last year than will be more specific

if you are interested there is a couple of movie screenings in the city that weekend.

Thursday at the Carolina Theater Belk Palace will be screening Empire Strikes Back at 7pm. its a small theater for small stage shows and occasional special movies. ticket prices based on area. cheapest is $16 after fees. located further down the street from where we ate last year

Friday at the local forth ward park (around same distance as the theater just you turn somewhere. will be having a movie in the park. which this week will be Night at the museum. its free, bring your own blanket, chair or sit on grass or on the few park benches. there is a concession stand that sells hotdogs and drink

I do plan on attending empire strikes back. if any of you want to meet me in lobby, will do so

I am driving down from NJ and have a fairly hectic plan for the show but will let you know if I can check out those events when I get to Charlotte.
