Good morning

I have a complete set of 1980's Moon knight comics. My question is would the whole set sell for more than selling one by one? I have two # ones so I could sell that one and save the set.

I have a total of 103 books that my youngest son and I collected back when he was in high school.

Thank for your help

welcome to the forum!

I would say No.

The bulk sale of books would not sell for more if all books were sold separately.

Buyers would expect a reduced price based on purchasing more books.

No. As @GAC pointed out a bulk sale would not be for more than individual sales. The flip side is that individual sales can be a lot of work (pictures, listings, dealing with occasionally unpleasant or dishonest buyers) that seems hardly worth it for books of low value.

Thanks for the quick reply, I never thought about the discount they would ask for.

Don't forget issue #3 features the first appearance of Needlepoint.

I know the answer to this question, do the grades from here get the same attention as cgc? I think they are a little uppity if you know what I mean. I Have a lot of comics that need graded and cheaper is better.

@mrtoasty We all care but we like to have fun with one another as well. You got your answer which is why the fun began...no harm intended.

Stick around, you'll like it here.

Post some of your Moon Knight books.

@mrtoasty I don't think CBCS is cheaper...they're definitely the best...by miles....but not sure they're the cheapest.

Not always, but the cgc grades are inflated. You're paying for a 9.8 label, typically a banana slab, and probably not a 9.8 book. This is just my opinion and I have come to realize that as much as I loathe the cgc, they still have the occasional use.

Thanks to all of you for the comments about the Knight miss type. I need to proof better, but then I would be normal.

I will get some pictures of some of my good comics posted soon.

@mrtoasty Pay no attention to @DrSnarksalot. He means well but is an admitted crusty old man and you're just not in the club unless he's yelled at you to get off his lawn. And next time, just know that the board gives you 24 hours to edit your posts.

@mrtoasty you're among friends here that will occasionally bust your b@11s And I agree that selling individual issues will be more profitable.

CBCS is better and more accurate in grading, and I would recommend consigning with MCS or trying to sell here or on Facebook in comic groups. Those folks understand that CBCS is just as good if not better, and you'll have a better chance of getting FMV on it.

Welcome to the forum!

CBCS definitely has a better slab. It's a work of art. Crystal clear, holds the comic straight and flat, yet solid as a (plastic) rock.

if you have a number in mind, I would like to hear it. Feel free to PM me.

There are two series from my childhood I would like to have again, Dazzler and Moon Knight. My Mom got subscriptions for these for me when I was little, and it was these two in particular cause it was something offered from her job. I was aware of neither character at the time she ordered them (Batman and X-Men were my jam). She just got them for me cause she knew I liked comic books.

Some books where lost in moves and shuffles as I was little, I don't have ANY of the books from these two sets from back then...id like to have them again. The only book I have picked up is the error edition of Dazzler #1.

I have plenty of CBCS slabs and "clear" wouldn't be one of the words to describe them.

That sucks. I haven't had that issue on any of mine. Certainly not recently.

There is much more I could share but I will simply say I sincerely hope you and everyone else never have to deal with issues like this on your books.

You must have been unlucky. Ive been dealing with CBCS since day one and I haven't had problems with my outer cases.

I've had two or three with some minor scuffing, but nothing a good wipe down with Novus plastic polish didn't fix.

You are one of the lucky ones I guess and I hope you don't have to go through it either. The issues appear to be inside the case too so a wipe down would not help anyways. The ones with the scratches run down perfectly front and back almost as if a paint brush was going down them. Many cloudy cases as well. They had apparently reslabbed them but when they shipped them back, several still had palmprints inside and fingerprints as if the people handling them weren't wearing gloves. Some came back with the tops cracked badly (only a few thanksfully) due to poor packaging. My buyers have taken notice too and complained and I have and to explain to them as well, thankfully they have all been understanding about it but it has affected resale value. The white circles I believ are caused by the pressure because they tend to take a stack of books and wrap them extremely tight with large bubblewrap and these cirular impressions appear on the books on the outsides of the stack. The impressions in the slab are the same size as the bubbles on the bubblewrap.

Every one of my CBCS slabs are crystal clear...maybe an odd scuff here and there that's only visible when tilted in the light at a certain angle.

By far the best slabs on the market....it's really not even close.

.... speaking as someone who just received back two books from CGC that I consider(ed) "keepsakes"; they effin bent both damn books and effed the books themselves. The damn books they destroyed.
Yea it says 9.8 on my labels, but even someone who's blind can see that the encapsulation effed up the book, bent it, and now it's a 0.0 grade. (yes, that's the flames shooting out of my head talking)

My CBCS books received have been flawless for the 7/8 years I've been submitting.
It's unfortunate when a slab case happens like this and would aggravate me to no end, but when you see what that other company ROUTINELY does; (i.e. not occasional eff-ups) then the fury is nuclear level with those Clarabelles in Sarasota.
