The math says shifting submissions entirely, or splitting them is a losing venture. It's not an emotional decision, just following the facts.

So far, there have been no returns. Not to say potential sales aren't lost due to the banana problem, no way to quantify that. The only money loser is having to sell the 3% "obviously messed up" portion at severe discounts. And even on some of those, you might break even.

Some wonder why people are still submitting to CGC. Many submitters are just locked in, it's what they know, and still seems to be hobbling along.

For those committed to this business plan, there would be some relief if CGC could figure things out. Since they don't recognize that they have a problem, that day will not be arriving soon.

you did and I had a snarky response, but I’d submit to PGX over CGC these days.

Here's a fun idea! Maybe this was discussed previously but I just thought about it.

What is cgc doing that the other companies ( the lesser known ones)aren't?? Why does this seem to be affecting them over cheaper ugly companies. šŸ¤”

Anyone in here ok with that fact?
I'm not

It boils down to this....we know it's happening and CGC still gets business. In a hobby where condition means everything we have the "leading" company damaging books...they're knowingly causing a reduction in condition, when a major part of their service is to do the exact opposite of damaging books...they're supposed to protect books from further damage.

Bizarre times we live in.

Id expect this from PGX,EGS or hell even HALO. The fact that cgc is an industry juggernaut is mind boggling. Someone needs to Old Yeller quality control lol.

On second thought, just keep right on marching right along. After all, it's within standards. šŸ‘

Apparently they did. I wasn't aware my comic came back to me in the shape of a boomerang was a standard but hey what do I know.

Concave CGC slabs! I tell you they're coming!

Unless of course you look at it from the back, then it's a convex slab.

My new 2025 car just came from the dealer. It's considered #1 reliability for cars.
The good thing is it's within specifications and I can sell it to some poor knumbskull later, and still make a profit. Who cares if it's damaged as long as I can enjoy it now and make a profit later.

Plus I didn't like the logo/label on the competitors model.
And the competitor's model sells for 20% less in the aftermarket.

Good example, @Nuffsaid111

The only difference is that the car dealer and/or manufacturer offers a warrantee. Knowing that you can go to a myriad of other car dealerships, they try their best to make you a happy customer and protect their reputation or brand.

CGC knows that they don't have any viable competitors (yet), so they choose to do nothing. And you're left holding the "car wreck".

The fact is that CGC still pretends like nothing is wrong when the photographic evidence says otherwise. I'm not going to pretend like CBCS, PGX, EGS, Halo, Midwest Comic Grading, or the upcoming PSA comic grading are some gold standards either.

Looking at Comic Link last night, I was dismayed to see plenty of books I'd like to bid on for the upcoming auction all with 45- numbers. I'm not bidding on these because I don't want to get a book that looks like the Iron Sheik put it in the camel clutch for three days. The local shops in my area don't want anything to do with this nonsense and have stayed away from submitting anything, granted their submissions are way less than the average profiteer who flips the flavor of the week moderns. It's hard to have empathy when people keep submitting their property to CGC and expect a different result. I'd sell that twisted bullcrap through an auction house as well so I wouldn't have to deal with customers either.

The way I see it, if you as a seller are willing to sell me a product you know is defective or obviously not reflective of the given grade, then that calls your integrity into question.

As a result, if that is something you have no qualms about doing while looking me in the eye, then I can only imagine the other ways you would screw me over when my back is turned.

I can't say that I will never have cause to submit another book to the cgc. In fact, I have one going there now.

That said, at least I know what I'm getting into and the book isn't for resale. In this instance, if I get screwed, at least I'm screwing myself. And being a single guy, that probably happens with more regularity than it should.

I will say I won't have another account with the cgc. @CFP_Comics is graciously doing me a tremendous favor. I may have to pay him in jujubes.

I may have to make to trip to @DrWatson's house so we can eat crow together. I have my eye on a #45 slab at auction, only because of the signatures I want and I could potentially get it on a lowball bid. It would be my first time knowlingly bidding on or purchasing a bananaslab.

You get used to it. Just ignore evey third or fourth letter and toss in a dash of punctuation.

If it works out financially and you know what you are getting into, then that's a completely different situation.

What sucks is buying on faith only to discover you've been banana-ed without warning.

The problem is it's a grab bag full of snakes. šŸ
