And here we are, still knowingly contributing to the success of trash businesses that don't care about anything. It's the American way.

@Siggy true haha. I've never even used CGC. I've only bought some of their slabs before #43

This is CGC saying "F@#K YOU!" to all collectors that still use this trash heap of a company.....PGX is way more respectable at this point.

And it's locked. Draco has been cracking down harder over there on the threads mentioning slabs with peyronie disease. I've seen some rumblings that a fair amount of the old guard had migrated to different forums.

Looking back at that thread makes me even more mad and they're not even my books!
Those are NOT dollar bin books and even if they were; this is a crime against the collecting market. CGC needs to stop all submissions until this is properly addressed. They wont but that's what needs to happen.

How do I know this? Because I've done it myself. lawguy1977 private msg quote post Address this user
If sellers and auction houses don't care enough to reject bent books, why would CGC? "Buyer Beware," I guess. It's disgusting.

It's like the Roach Motel for comic collectors. chester15 private msg quote post Address this user
They aren't fixing it because they have no idea what causes it.

Maybe, while in the possession of CGC after encapsulation, which is a very short time, basically a blip, there are no measurable effects. The plastic capsule could be warping as it cures, over the shipping duration. They'll never figure it out unless they keep some to periodically check for distortion.

This problem probably started when they changed their process and materials to prevent Newton Rings. They may have solved that mess, only to create a new disaster. The cure is more deadly than the disease. All at the expense of and detriment to their customers.

A service purported to protect comics is now ruining them. It's a total dumpster fire.

@IronMan it is a joke lol in a way .

However, I don't see cgc being able 5o sustain any business if this keeps happening. Blackstone cant afford it.

I know this post is a couple of months old, but it reminded me of my favorite Letterman bit from his show in the 90s. His announcer was doing a fake ad read for Firestone Exploding Tires, saying "put some excitement in your carpool. Firestone Tires: KABOOM!" No one I know remembers it but I think about it whenever I hear their name. 😂

I've read a number of forum posts over the months on the damages to the books by CGC that are clearly not one-offs, but the likely outcome.
And I have to say, I just don't understand the responses by hobbyists. It's like OCD/Stupidity just takes over to the point they no longer follow logic.

Threads seem to go the following path, generally speaking:

"CGC is damaging books consistently and here are my pictures to prove"
Response: "yea but....."

WTF is the "yea but...? There is no effin "yea but...". They're consistently damaging books. They know they're damaging books. The populace in the know, knows they're damaging books. CGC claims they're within specifications. And folks just keep submitting, and worse, buying damaged books. This is not newton rings, hair in the case, case cracks, damaged labels, graded ghost books, acetate books. This is the book itself.

As a recipient of damaged/bent CGC books a bunch of submissions, there is no single larger gut punch to see a beautifully pressed and gorgeous high grade books with spine tics and bends that were never there before and a grade that no longer represents the book. What the hell is going on over there that this would still be a problem well over a year and not addressed? It's one thing for CGC to claim there's no problem and fix it anyway behind the scenes like they've done in the past with other stuff. But they're not even correcting this issue that is the book.... the book itself.... damaging the effin book. It's like Bizarro World

And my absolute favorite "yea but....", is the "yea but ... CBCS has had issues over the years". to which I'd love to respond "yea but how long ago was that Einstein"? Idiots.
