At least 2 handfuls already had multiple color breaking tick or full or full on bends.

One well known dealer shot me the nastiest look when he saw me viewing the sides of the slabs. Likely because if another customer asked me why they would be educated.

I do wish I had seen more CBCS at the con, Most of my cash went unspent…

…Will say this about PSA , they give you a receipt right then and for the drop off that serves as proof of their acceptance. Thus insuring your stuff from the first second.

Unlike CGC where your book can be liberated at anytime before they check them in weeks later. 5 books of mine in 2023 never made it to checkin after a Con drop off. CCG claimed I never handed them over.

Wow, that’s an unfortunately impressive number of them you found. I bet if others did the same they would find similar results, especially considering most dealers send off very large numbers of comics per order. Any one CGC order from a dealer could lend itself to hundreds of books being banana’ed, then coming back for the intent of selling stock for customers.

I did a PSA submission their first month of availability, received the books back a month later and I was very happy with the process overall.

They recently changed their cost structure; specifically for "bulk" which is now only 10 comics!
And 30 days TAT for Vintage. Not sure I remember it being that low.
They must be hurtin for business.

Maybe if they fix their damn slabs to not damage the book, they'd be back to just being inconsistent/incompetent with grading.
It would actually be welcoming! LOL

From a not to be named mailing list...

"The auction features many new CGC certified Marvels from the Bronze and Copper Ages, mostly from 1980's through the early 1990's."

That counts me out!

Just fyi....

I just received one Modern Celebrity signing SS book - Bent moderately
I also just received 5 Silver/Golden age books - Perfectly flat.

Combine this information with my last shipment about 4 months ago of a similar 2 submissions (Celebrity signing SS which was bent & several Golden/Silver books which were flat) and I am beginning to be convinced that the bent/damage is occurring on Modern books; not on Silver/Golden books.

I recognize this has been a theme of only impacting Modern books, but I wanted to begin the process of confirming myself. I'm not there yet, but it's trending there.

I hope the Buyer doesn't mind the waviness of the bottom cover (near Spider-man's left foot) on this 9.9.

It's OK though, cuz the label says it's a 9.9.

Probably the BANANA EFFECT.

When did Wesley Crusher become Spider-Man?

A 9 is kinda like a 4 with the points rounded off. Maybe they read the grade wrong when they printed the label.

Someone gambling over $450 on it after shipping.

It looks like the book would fit normally in the inner well, but that the front-to-back flap is holding it away on one side causing the compression wave at the bottom during heat seal. Talk about a deeply flawed process and lack of acceptable QC.

I'd be pissed. I wouldn't even want to bid on that as a 9.9.

More wrecked books at CGC, a submission dealer having to pass them on to his customers. See it HERE before it's purged.

It is the definition of insanity. Yo dumbass, if you keep getting screwed why do you keep sending them orders?

From the poster/presser:

"Curious what others are doing with books that come back like this. Sending them back again? Eating the cost? Or just pretending it’s “normal” ?"

Interesting how pressers don't have a disclaimer about CGC to cover their ass.

They probably have enough denial to think it won't happen to them until it does. The knowledge is out there so it is hard for me to pity someone who should know better and still makes poor choices.

I had to reset my password in order to give the presser some advice. Interestingly when I tried to change it to CGCsucksass! they wouldn't accept it or any other passwords with "CGC" in them.

It's books he presses and cleans for his customers, not his books per sé. He mentioned elsewhere that the customers that were continuing to give him books to submit were "dropping off like flies."

Quote of the day: "I can’t help but wonder if CGC is undoing the work we’ve already done."

Uh... you've got 50 slabs of evidence in front of you, and complaints from customers some of whom have already left, and you're "wondering"?

Blinders much?!?

(It's a good thing I'm no longer a member of the CGC boards, cause I'd get tossed unceremoniously for my "negative attitude".)

Modern/Copper/Bronze still seem (anecdotally) to be the ones most impacted by the banana, whereby it is just a pure debacle and disgusting bends.
It's really foolish to send these timeframe books to them.
