Sorry if this has been noted already, but I was cracking out some slabs and noticed this.
The slabs had serial numbers beginning with 41, 43 and 45. The post-1975 books had the banana action, the pre-1975 books did not.
When removing them I noticed that the seal on the wells is different.
On the pre-1975 books it’s the same seal as it’s been for awhile, the seal is a straight line that runs from one edge of the well to the other and crisscross at the corners.
The post-1975 books have a continuous seal that wraps around the shape of the inner well.

So the seal must be applying pressure to the well. When seals are straight (i.e. crisscross each other) the pressure must be evenly distributed thereby keeping the well flat....with the new seal running parallel to the well, the curvature of the seal must be applying pressure unevenly causing the entire well to curve or warp...is this what we think might be happening? |
