Even the seal is in the shape of a banana. There's no hope.

That would be my guess. It's pulling on itself.

Again, some books I would like to bid on on Comic Link. Hesitant due to the banana hammock slab numbers. The Link still doesn't do returns for books damaged within CGC's specifications, correct?

Still one of the greatest of dumbass responses from a place of business / customer support of all time: "the bending is per specifications". I still laugh when I see it 2 years later now.

I posted this on another board and thought I'd share it here as well. Banana books go back past the 4XXXX books. I was filing graded books into their appropriate boxes this morning and I have books in the 37XXXX range that are banana books. I submitted these books myself. In fact, I think was my last larger submission to the cgc. They all have the new, post 1975 inner well were the seal curves around the book instead of criss-crossing at the corners. Also, signature series books in 2XXXX carry the new inner well on the post 1975 books. I thought they were safe due to the serial numbers being in the 2s. They are not. Their numbering does not fall in the regular sequence of serial numbers since they are signed books. I also have books that were not displaying bends when purchased, but seem to be developing them over time. I've decided that no book graded by the cgc where the page quality is below the number grade is safe. |
