| I've been getting these e-mails every few days from Indie Comics Creator Con (IC3) that do a fantastic job at showcasing the artists/guests they have attending this year. I wanted to share a link to their blog but also wanted to start a discussion if anyone else is planning on going to this convention. https://www.indiecomicscreatorcon.com/ It's located in New Haven, Connecticut, so right off I-91 and I-95. You can almost certainly get some Apizza while you're there. It's pretty new, but I went last year and was very impressed. They currently note 175+ creators attending this year! This year their guests of honor include Dean Haspiel, Jim Rugg, Tom Scioli, Ken Landgraf, Jonathan Marks Barravecchia, Mahdi Khene, among others. They also have panels specifically about self-publishing and independent issues/ethical topics and concerns. Another big facet of this con that I noticed last year was an emphasis on original artwork. This year it looks like they've become part of Comic Art Fans, so there will most likely be an influx of OA. I am interested to see how this con will continue to progress through the years. (Sidenote: It reminds me of ConnectiCon's early years when it focused on WebComics - it was THE webcomics convention for a few years there...) |
