Need Help Getting CBCS Census/Population Report Corrected21536

Collector rich_TMNT private msg quote post Address this user
Hi,

I've been trying since last November to get five entries in the CBCS Census/Population Report updated to reflect the correct publisher for my book (and all cover variants). Since the entries have the incorrect Publisher listed, this also affects any slab labels for the book that have already been graded and any current/future books submitted.

The book is the TMNT 40th Anniversary Reproduction #1 and it is listed as published by Mirage Studios/IDW but that is incorrect. The book (all variants) were published by my company (TMNT: A Collection) under license - they were produced directly from the original source negatives.

I've emailed CBCS customer support multiple times and provided the documentation and proof they've required to make this change. Initially they responded, indicating they had passed this information on to the team that handles the population report and it would be updated "in a timely manner." But now, after repeated inquiries, they've just stopped responding altogether and the population report is still reflecting the incorrect publisher.

CGC was able to accomplish this Publisher correction within a matter of days - way back in September 2024 - so I'm unsure of what the hold up is with CBCS.

Does anyone have experience with getting the CBCS population report corrected? Even better, is there someone here that has some pull with CBCS that could help expedite this correction?

Appreciate any assistance in getting this resolved. -rich

I have the same problem.

Back in July of 2023, I submitted my "DOC SAVAGE" Magazines and the labels and "Population Report" both came back "DOG SAVAGE" !! I sent my 1-4, 7 & 8 "DOG SAVAGE"'s back to have the labels corrected (which they did) and I told them about the "Population Report" and of this writing it still shows "DOG SAVAGE" !!

My 1-4, 7 & 8 "DOG SAVAGE"'s are 23-25C913A.

Not only are they listed in the "Population Report" (which I clicked "Problem" filled out the form) but it is in my account as "DOG SAVAGE".

Per Ed Saravo, I will also give Cody James Lockwood a try.

Good luck in YOUR quest!!

Good luck with your quest. I have sent multiple communications to CBCS to get them to correct the census for my Gold Key Star Trek #1 as it appears 3 times on the census. Yes three of the thirteen 7.0's on the census are the exact same copy.

Originally I sent it in and it came back as a 7.0 blue label (21-1820B29-004), then I sent it back in for William Shatner's signing and it came back as a 7.0 restored (22-0AD15F7-001), then I sent it back in for the George Takei signing and it came back again as a 7.0 restored (23-05AC683-001). Every time I sent it in (still in the CBCS case with the label), they didn't bother to remove the previous census entry, just checked and all 3 entries are still there.

This really inflates the census numbers, but they don't seem to want to correct it. I gave up trying to get them to fix it and just accept that the census is probably only a rough estimate at this point.

I couldn’t get them to correct a minor spelling error on a label…one that was clearly verified by the front cover…

They refused to fix their own spelling error?

No.... Marvel spelled it wrong and they are trying to have all of the books sent back so they can redo the covers????? lol....

Misspelling is an easy fix. Just have to get the right person on the line and they will make arrangements to fix the label. AND... they will get rid of that old rivet style label. Sweet..

So there are "wrong" people working there?
Seems like it shouldn't be based on who answers the phone.

And so as not to trigger certain people here... This applies to every business on Earth.

Just an observation but it seems some people look for conflict where there is none. They appear to be policing the forum and only post responses to call out individuals because they FEEL an "injustice" has occurred.

Yes they should fix label errors and yes the Report should accurately reflect that label. I don’t think the report will ever be “fixed”. I think changing information would open them up to some type of liability or CGC swap shenanigan type accusations.

If it is fixed I think it will be a case by case basis and they would most likely need the books in hand to verify they have not been tampered with. If they are already correcting a label then updating it should be hand in hand, but I have no idea how that system works or if they can at all without adding a new entry to the report.

For a book submitted in its slab with the label for signing; you’d think it would retain its cert number. Then again it is going through another process and subsequent authentication and certification. So does this warrant a new Report entry with the new Cert or should it retain the original Cert if handled by CBCS from crack to new slab?

A book submitted for a new signing is cracked out, signed, and graded as a new submission and receives a new serial number.

The old label should be submitted to be removed from the census, but this doesn't even happen with cgc anymore.

You used to receive a $5 credit for returned labels. Not anymore. There's no telling how many duplicate entries are in the cgc census. Imagine a book with fifteen different signatures and the label for each resubmit gets thrown away. Or a book subbed for the third time trying for a 9.8 where the sumitter throws the label away with each submission.

This label has been corrected years ago. Did you send it for a reholder?

Absolutely. Here's a close-up of the legal at the bottom that shows it's published under my license from IDW. You can see the entire interior front/back cover here: https://tmnt-ninjaturtles.com/assets/TMNT-01_1st-printing_interior-cover.jpg
