Beckett Authentication Sticker21516

Collector Karldubya private msg quote post Address this user
I'm going to an event where Beckett will be onsite witnessing signatures. This is actually for athletes.

I want to get my Super Sonic versus Hyper Knuckles comic autographed by Jamyr Gibbs and David Montomery (i know this is wierd, but they go by sonic and knuckles if you didnt know). It'll combine my two loves of comics and Lions football.

If i want to have it encapsulated, its already been witnessed, but beckett puts a sticker on the items they witness that says Beckett Authenticated and has a QR code.

Should i have them put this on my comic? in the inside cover maybe? not that the comic is in great shape and i'm worried about the value going down, but i'm jus curious what my best practice should be here.

No, do not put a sticker on your comic book. It will downgrade the book.

If submitted to CBCS, the signatures will probably still need to be verified.

Someone from CBCS will need to comment. CBCS and Beckett are the same, but maybe not when it comes to signings.

A small non-factory sticker on a book will limit the grade to a maximum of 8.5.
If the comic is not high grade, or you don't plan to actually get it graded, there's nothing wrong with getting a Beckett sticker on the book.

At the end of the day it's your comic. Collect how it makes you happy.

But at an event like this, could they leave it with Beckett to take back to CBCS to get encapsulated with a witnessed signature label and no sticker?

@SidTheSquid I have no idea of our protocol on this. If he wants it graded, I would certainly ask the Beckett rep at the show.

@SidTheSquid I think they would be confused by that, they are probably more acustomed to sports memorabilia and not comic books

I still think if you want it graded, just say no to the sticker.

@Karldubya Don’t have any answers for you but I think it’s a great idea to have them sign it and would like to see it when it’s done.

I’d say in this situation the sigs are more important than the grade of the book. As far as future sale I think the value is going to be in the sigs with the added value of the reference.

I am curious how this will work out.
