You keep flipping that coin bud. I will stick with the real deal.
CBCS has by far and away the best holder on the market.
These newest holders are stout.
No creaking, no newton rings and no banana damage.
And equally as important is consistent accurate grading.

@Nearmint67 You are 100% correct and to me, it seems so incredibly obvious that I scratch my head when others don't see the same thing. There is absolutely no comparison between CBCS and the Sarasota Shit Show (thanks @StudleyDudley for coining than name...they will forever be called that by me).

I would have loved to submit to both companies until I was told the bend was within normal grading sstandards. Makes it really hard to trust a business that has that kind on blase response to a customer concern. CBCS isn't perfect, not by a mile; but they're perfect for me.

Whenever one knows they are being handed a line of sh*t in a customer/business interaction, the key is to continue to ask reps questions with their responses until they are out of answers. Do not let up. Then continue to go higher and higher and higher in the organization until they make you go away because you won't stop pestering them.
I wont do that often except when I know I'm being handed a line of B.S. Don't necessarily get angry; but be unrelenting. I find it works.

For all those that are being told their books are within specification, ask them what the specification is and for that specification in writing. See how that goes with the representative. They don't give it? - go higher. Kindly threaten with poor Reviews. State firmly with threats with BBB. Threaten with other actions that you have already prepared.

There are times I feel a company is within their right as I continue questioning and I'll find myself wrong or misinformed. But when I feel the wool is being pulled over my eyes, I'm there until they yield.

This horsesh*t with the bends is on them, solely on them, unacceptable. And that's a period.

@Nuffsaid111 my response email might have been too professional lol. I did say that wasn't happy with the response and said I was going to grade books elsewhere. They tried offering me a credit to return the book but I sent books that were supposed to go to them here. I turned off the auto renew on my membership and haven't looked back. My last two submissions from them had bends and I wasn't even going to negotiate anything with them. I dropped both of those books off at cbcs booth in New York; still waiting on them to come back. Bothnof those were repressed.

And that's exactly how I felt. I'm going to get crucified for this but i sent two book to pgx. Even a company as inept as they are didn't bend my books. The whole banana gate was just pure negligence from the upper management just to avoid the loses they were inevitably going to take. They're going to be just fine in the long run because hundreds of thousands of books will fill their storage area and grading rooms because that's the narrative that the cgc sells for more. Not me though;not my books.

Something of note with all the scandals is that there are still books in circulation from Swapgate and now CGC is adding Bananagate 9.8's to the population. If that doesn't erode customer confidence, I really dont know what will anymore.

Never heard that quote before.

I have. Asparagus piss is infamous here in the South... especially at The Toilet Bowl night club in Atlanta.

The link below is to Heritage Auctions and you should be able to zoom in to get a better view

https://comics.ha.com/itm/bronze-age-1970-1979-/superhero/hero-for-hire-1-marvel-1972-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7399-91011.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

The Luke Cage 1 CGC 9.8 has 3 spine ticks with spine stress lines emanating from each of the 4 spine ticks, not just 1 spine tick. However, these is no color breaking at the 3 spine tics/stress lines.

Not sure about "cover scratches" though. These are blown up high resolution scans of comics in plastic cases.

Plastic cases are never going to be scratch free.

That CGC 9.8 looks about as much of a 9.8 as this Bone CBCS 9.8 looks like a 9.8, it has a decent amount of scratches on its' case, as well.

I see several spine tics on this Bone 9.8, one of which breaks color (mid spine). Around 3 other spine tics near the top of the spine on the FC, possibly some light color breaking.

I picked this book for comparison because both are Heritage scanned books and both have black cover backgrounds.

I think both of thee books are passable at 9.8.

I don't know if this was mentioned yet or not but the membership prices also increased. Yes, you still get the incentives but I don't see how that's good for attracting newer collectors to the hobby when none of the other grading companies require memberships. Am I taking crazy pills??

I don't know about the others but Premium was $149 and you got $150 in credit. It was $129 if you auto-renew (or renewed on your own within a couple weeks or something)...and still got $150 credit.

So it went up a whole $9.

But you said membership wasn't required at the other graders. CGC has a free membership just like CBCS does. You need to give a name, address and email to submit books...at all graders.

@Sigur_Ros CGC does ha free membership now but I don't think they used to. You hade to pay the annual fee of whatever to submit books. Either way , Idk if this is a good idea for them long term; especially if they continue to screw up customer orders.

In short; I don't see the appeal of submitting to CGC again even if they are doing well now.

Is CGC faster than CBCS/Beckett? So far they don't seem to be meeting the timeframes that they quote, so I might switch to CGC.

If it's for your PC, I'd be more concerned with the quality of product than how fast you get it back.

If it's for sale, then I understand.

I have read in a couple place where folks say, "The cgc only went up $2."

Well, on a 30 book submission, that's $60. I've about 125 books with CBCS right now. I don't know about most folks, but I can think of a lot of ways to spend an additional $250.

It wouldn't be paying it to the cgc for banana books in boomerang slabs. That's for sure.

$2 here, $5 there, $9 for this. Over the entire spectrum, it adds up to way more than just a few dollars.

Now, factor in the probability of having to spend more money with CBCS, or even PSA (if that's who you re waiting on) to fix the errors just paid for with the cgc. No thank you.

I have a hunch PSA will be equal of more pricey compared to the CGC. Id like to see a review or several before I even consider sending them a book. Optimistic? sure, Skeptical, you bet.

Assuming they get the case dimensions sorted out, I plan on sending them a few cheap books from my PC to see how the service goes. Nothing I can't replace. I might even send duplicates of books I already have in CBCS slabs just so I can compare the two.

the only problem I see is just the cost of shipping... One or two books graded is not cost effective to do... but yea I may also give it a shot to test them out... but only books that are 9.8 candidates...

Either way, I don't feel the price increase was necessary. It's only a matter of time until another screw up pops on YouTube.
