Part of the enjoyment I receive from revisiting my collection
is running across issues that appeared to be special to me at
one time and then remembering why...like this DELL FOUR COLOR
#173. It states on the cover "Introducing for the first time...FLASH GORDON COMICS especially written and drawn for
this book." Up to this time I believe all of the FLASH GORDON
comics contained reprints of the daily and Sunday newspaper
strips. I guess this might make this the first FLASH GORDON
Comic Book.

I would love to have that one, even with the water damage. Never seen that cover.

In my box of remainder comics are a group of coverless comics that suffered
from constant moving. It's been a long time since I went through them.
One of them is DYNAMIC COMICS #16 which contains a marijuana story with
YANKEE BOY and "THE REEFER KING". Next was WONDER COMICS #7 with the GRIM
REAPER fighting the NAZIS in Yugoslavia. And finally a copy of PATCHES #6
a ARCHIE type of comic from Orbit Publication.
Looked up the covers on MYCOMICSHOP...don't remember them.

@martymann Would you be interested in having reproduction covers made for them? It would likely only cost a few dollars each and there's a guy on this forum who does reproductions.

No kidding huh? 2023 Version: "Captain California teams up with Reefer King to battle Flavor Fiend, who is putting fruit and dessert flavors into harmful tobacco products."

Thanks for the information, but I think I'll just keep them the way they are...but if I change
my mind down the road I'll check with you.
Thanks again!

One more interesting find in my group of coverless comics is a LEADING COMICS #12
from 1944. It contains a character I never really paid much attention too...as
a matter of fact I forgot all about him.
THE CRIMSON AVENGER a member of "THE SEVEN SOLDIERS OF VICTORY" or "THE LAW'S
LEGIONNAIRES".
It looks like THE CRIMSON AVENGER appeared in early DETECTIVE COMICS but other than this
LEADING COMICS I never remember reading any other stories about him.

Marty, do you know if there was an action figure made of the Crimson Avenger back in the day?
My father in law mentioned something about having one.

There was a series of figurines featuring cartoon characters but no store ever seemed to
have all of them. I remember getting a POPEYE and a WIMPY, they had one of the PHANTOM but
I didn't have the extra dollar. There could have been one of the CRIMSON AVENGER but I
never saw one.
