PEDIGREED... Again! martymann private msg quote post Address this user
After listening to JACK ARMSTRONG on the radio for so many years
I was truly thrilled to find this on the newsstand.

I remember finding this while traveling...it was in a rack of
mostly pulp magazines in a Greyhound Bus Station in Baltimore.
There was no specific rack for comics just pulps and a mixture
of weeklies.

I have always thought that the early TOMAHAWK stories were a continuation of stories from the EC (Educational Comic) series
"PICTURE STORIES FROM AMERICAN HISTORY"

.

I was always on the lookout for FEATURE BOOKS but I was only able
to find these three on the newsstand.

One of the more "creepy" villains.
If I'm not mistaken did they not misspell villain?

Just saw that an ALL-AMERICAN #94 graded CGC 6.5 sold on the
latest COMIC LINK auction for $2,433.00...didn't realize that
there was any interest out there in ALL-AMERICAN COMICS...glad
to see it.

Noticed that a lot of the recent pop-up ads for mycomicshop.com
feature a copy of GREEN HORNET COMICS #28 for sale...this is one
of the few comics I have two copies of.

Another title that I have two copies of...this was the first
wrap-around cover I remember finding...also Overstreet claims
it was the fifth Flying Saucer story in comic books.

@martymann That Flash Gordon is awesome!!! One of the cover themes that I like to collect are UFO's. I have not seen this one, or if I have, I didn't realize there was an ufo on the back. It being a Dell Four Color just makes it more intriguing to me. But what REALLY got my interest was your comment about it being the 5th flying saucer story in comics. Since I read that, I have been trying to track down the first story. Alas, I have had no success yet. Do you happen to know what comic was the first?

According to Overstreet the first was a SPIRIT Section dated 9/28/47,
the second was SHADOW COMICS V7 #10 (1/48), the third was CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT #60 (2/48) and fourth BOY COMMANDOS #26 (3-4/48).

It seems like I don't see the purple used on this cover very often. I wonder if it was more expensive or more difficult to print.
