I am LIVID at the results. I just got the update my books are being shipped back but the grading information for all 5 books haven't been updated on their site.

Two of the books dropped in grade. This is after paying for all of them to be pressed. I'll post pictures after I get them back.

Here is the first one. It went from a 6.5 down to a 5.5.

CGC Grader Notes
multiple stain back cover
tear with crease bottom of back cover
spine stress lines breaks color

Here is the second. From a 7.0 down to a 5.5.

@OGJackster Unfortunately that's the gamble we all play when resubmitting books.

It has been my experience that CBCS hammers tanning on books.

@DrWatson agreed...@OGJackster Those are substantial decreases in grade but it can and obviously did happen. Sucks when it does. It's happened to all of us.

@HeinzDad That was the free part lol! After paying for shipping both ways, grading, pressing and the decrease in value, I think I'm in the negative now.

Half of the last submission to come back failed the grade screen. All further submissions are on hold until I see how the remaining submissions pan out.

@OGJackster I feel for you but in my case I had the opposite happen but in my case, could have been prevented if I wasn't being so greedy. I had a Sandman #1 that CBCS had graded a 9.6. I had some CGC credit that was expiring early last year so I felt if CBCS gave it a 9.6 then there was a good chance CGC would give it a 9.8 mainly because CBCS tends to grade a bit stricter from what I have both seen and heard from others. When the book came back to me from CGC it dropped to a 7.5. From a 9.6??? I said to myself. CGC offered to look at it again so they sent me a pre-paid label. It then came back to me....as a 7.0. Ugh. The reason being is that something CBCS never noticed, or perhaps had not opened the book to check was that on the upper left area where a white orchid appeared, there was a circular ring stain. It looks like a water or some sort of moisture stain. How it got there is beyond me as I was the original owner of the book and I never would place anything liquid next to a comic. I could understand them missing it by looking at the cover as it does blend in quite well with the artwork, however once the cover was opened it was clearly visible. It was the reason why it dropped to the 7.5 initially, why it dropped again to a 7.0 was puzzling. Lesson learned big time.

Oh, dear.

Maybe it was a bead of sweat that dropped from the grader's brow after the book was assigned the grade.

Yeah I figured something moisture-related, just unsure how it would get there as I would never keep water around my books. I can't say it happened at CBCS after I sent it in as I suspect it happened much earlier. Could have been a sweat drop when I was bag/boarding comics long ago. Still, I should never submitted it to CGC hoping to get a higher grade, I should have been happy with the 9.6 it had. Gordon Gekko once said "Greed is good" but not in this case, I basically screwed myself. I ended up selling it for around $95 shipped on eBay soon after I got it back from CGC.

Can tanning occur after slabbing?
