I don't believe this....and I know you don't care that I don't believe this. GAC private msg quote post Address this user
It's that time of year again. We just finished putting up the bulk of our Christmas decorations and our tree in the home. Post your pictures of your holiday tree and decorations.

@GAC those white lights make everything pop. Maybe I'll buy some of those this year instead of the multicolor ones.

@sportshort those also look far better than what I have.

@flanders Yes, the strings of "warm" white lights is what we get. When the room lights lights are off and only the tree is on, it's a nice glow.

Always been a fan of white lights as an adult. As a kid, I always liked the multi-colored lights. I never liked the flashing ones.

Putting up tree #3 tomorrow. Not sure when I'll put up the big tree at home.

Our big trees are up and mostly done decorating. I usually dedicate one room as a Christmas “wonderland” for the kids but integrated it throughout the house this year instead.

For the tree lights we have some nice LEDs for the larger trees that can change color. You can do warm white light (yellow tone), bright white, a number of solid colors, and multi-color. You can also set them to twinkle, and a bunch of other effects.

We usually have it on one of the multi-color options for the kids or the solid white (yellow tone). Usually with the subtle candlelight setting.

Picked them up at Costco on sale. I usually buy my new light sets after Christmas every year but these are worth the splurge.

White:

Multi-color (red/green/white) - can do “rainbow” style multi too with more colors…

Other trees (still some ornaments to go up):

Have something similar too. The water circulation effect is pretty cool. Ours is silent, however…

Some really nice trees!

I've always had a fake tree from the time I was born to now....never had a real tree.

The past few years I've been thinking about getting a real tree. There's something about going out and cutting down your own tree and bringing it back home and setting it up that I find appealing.

Does/has anyone use/used a real tree? If so, any thoughts one way or the other?

Are real trees more difficult to deal with, etc?

Curious what people think.

Grew up with exclusively real trees. Real pain to be honest. Sap, falling needles, potential for bringing in insects and watering the thing. The process of cutting one down yourself, trudging through snow, and all that is really fun. Especially (or maybe exclusively) in hindsight. Honestly, if getting a real tree I’d go all-out. Getting a parking lot tree misses most of the adventure… and for me you get most of downsides.

That said, doing it once is maybe worth it…

After putting up my artificial trees I spent a couple hours trimming high branches off one of my pine trees. Enjoyed the needles, sap, and sawing and then left it on the curb. I’ll take that over bringing a real tree inside.

Real trees are a pain the ass. You have to keep them watered or they will go down hill fairly quickly unless you get one you can plant afterwards.

Artificial trees are just more user friendly, more convenient, last longer, and you don't have to worry about your pet trying to drink the water out of the tree reservoir.

My wife and son got her tree up over the weekend.

Bedford Falls has taken over the mantel.

My tree is now stood up, but not yet decorated. Hopefully get it done tomorrow.

Yay! Got the tree up!! Sparse on decorations this year due to travel schedule. The star won’t go up until Christmas Day.

The kids’ Pokémon advent calendar has yet to be opened today. Both kids have to be present to open, but their morning schedule is not in sync.

Of course for the kids, our Elf on the Shelf is causing much mischief.

The Nutcrackers are ready to chomp on unsuspecting guests’ fingers. The kids’ friends fall for it every year 😇

Nothing for us this year. It will be the first time since 2016 that we don’t go cut down our wild Christmas tree. We’re slowly moving from one house to the other (in another state) and both are in complete disarray. It’s just the Mrs. and I anyway, so we don't do a lot. Hell, we were driving to Colorado from Arizona on Thanksgiving Day to get a few cats moved down to AZ. The holidays are on hold this year, but we’re good with it. 👍
