OLED is my pick for a dark room and ignoring most budget constraints. Based on the original post, seems best deal may be a big driver, in which case I’d consider all options. Keep in mind OLED is susceptible to burn in. Likely won’t but it can. |

My main TV is a TCL and they offer a lot of value for the price. OLED is for sure the very best, but mini LED /QLED can get close at a substantially lower price. It really comes down to just how much you want to spend and if you are willing to pay a premium for the very best. All of my life I have been a "best bang for the buck" person no matter what the product. TCL and Hisense make "best bang for the buck" TV's. Which is why I own a TCL. |

I have 4 TCL tv’s in the house now. Never had an issue with them. Sized range from 75 inch to 42 inch.

My basement has eight screens but only four are TVs. The rest are monitors of various types. Never more than two on at once. Don’t want to inadvertently microwave something, or someone… The irony is I don’t watch much TV. |

I've always had Samsungs in the past and always really liked them. The last one I bought about 4-5 years ago was a higher end Vizio P Series; I still love it but if I were buying today I'd go for OLED.

Here are my two cents: I’ve never had an issue with any of my Samsung T.V.s, so I’d certainly recommend the brand overall. BUT! If you’re going 4k, I’d recommend a model with Dolby Vision. As such, I got a Sony when I wanted to upgrade the T.V. in my Man Cave. As far as TCL, a friend of mine who is sort of my go-to tech guy likes that brand. From what I’ve heard, the main downside is that the built-in speakers are terrible. But if you’re using a soundbar, that may not be an issue. |

We have a Hisense ULED from a few years ago. It was amazing until we got the Sony A8H OLED two years ago. And it was amazing until we got the LG C3 OLED this year. Our daughter has a TCL Roku TV she loves. At the end of the day, all of them are visually similar to a 10 year old Samsung 4k we have from back in the day. It's cliche, but I think you get what you pay for. I definitely recommend OLED if it's in your budget. If you can, go to a Best Buy or similar store and see the differences in picture quality. Some will stand out and some will blend in with all the others. |

My personal recommendation would be a new SONY Bravia 8 OLED (they're available in 55", 65" & 77" with current seasonal discounts from Best Buy, etc.). These are easy to calibrate out of the box in professional mode with simple on-line guidelines and have a jaw dropping picture, IMO. Just upgraded my 7 year old Bravia LED which still worked fine and was always dependable, but has had a lot of use. I figured now was the optimum time before prices on electronics potentially shift after the first of the year.
