| Hi, everyone. I'm in the market for a desk that will raise and lower. I'll use this desk for my "real world" job (doing computer work). Any recommendations or advice? Thanks! |

| I've heard that these crank workbenches are better than the mechanical desks: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-52-in-W-x-24-in-D-Adjustable-Height-Solid-Wood-Top-Workbench-Table-in-Black-HOLT52XDB12/301809830#overlay ![]() https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-62-in-W-x-24-in-D-2-Drawer-Adjustable-Height-Black-Workbench-Table-with-Solid-Wood-Top-HOTL6202B12/307723264 ![]() |

| Thanks, @karn9. I'd have no problem using a crank to raise/lower the desk. I didn't even know crank-type desks existed. | ||

David, I have two of these (one with the cherry finish and one in black) that I have used for several years without a problem.![]() Direct link to company: clickable text I used the black one at school on top of my desk there. I would raise it up and use it as a podium. I’m not using that one anymore. Do you want it? |

The thing is I'm 6'-4" so, even with the small platform being able to raise/lower, I figure I'll also need a desk that raises/lowers, too. Then I'll use both in conjunction to get just the right configuration for me to be comfortable. |

If you want to bludgeon someone with a comic, PSA should be your first choice.

| We have several of those exact crank work benches in the shop. They have a very good range of adjustment, but might require some modification at the base of you want to use a chair underneath. | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() I happened to have two of them next to where I am currently puttering about. The one adjusted all the way up does not have casters installed, the one all the way down does. So there is a bit more range of adjustment than the ruler shows. I have a transmission assembly on the low one, which is what I normally use them for, so they can handle quite a bit of load. |
