If I could, I would. I swear. DrWatson private msg quote post Address this user
You do run the risk of someone else buying it before your chosen book ends up in one of the code word specials selected categories.

The code word doesn't work on consignment items.

@Danimal1112 And the codeword only works for certain "classes" of books each week. For example, the codeword for one week might only apply to:

DC A-L & #'d titles
X-Men titles
Dark Horse titles
Horror titles

So you have to watch and see when the codeword applies to your books of interest. However, as @DrWatson said, there is always the risk that someone else is watching and will snag it before you do.

Ima gonna steal this and look for some occasion to use it! IronMan private msg quote post Address this user
ASM 129 is undervalued. Because for decades it was roughly the same value as Inc Hulk 181. So it would be my choice. But my answer is plan to get both. Buy first whichever one comes up at a good price.

Thanks. I decided to go with ASM 129 to start. It’s not a rare book and there’s a lot available online. I am just looking for one well centered near current values. Many being sold online are over priced by a lot. I am keeping an eye on a few auctions coming up.

Thanks! Will do. If anyone has one they are looking to sell, feel free to share and I’ll take a look.

I'd make sure to look at high resolution scans of the front and back covers or purchase the slab in person so you can see any imperfections from multiple angles.

CBCS is a better option than CGC and they've had more consistent grading over the years. I have seen my fair share of CBCS slabs and even own several with grades that I don't agree with, I believe it's a far lower percentage than CGC.

The comic market is still crashing. I think Hulk #180 will drop slightly after a spike from the recent movie.

You can look through Heritage Auctions past sales if you don't subscribe to a site that tracks prices. An 8.0 sold for $720 in June. I wouldn't pay any more than around that amount before tax and shipping.

This is good advice.

Both books exploded in FMV due to the pandemic speculation boom.

Both books are still dropping in FMV.

I would not buy either one of them until they reach their pre-2020 spec boom prices.

Pull up the historical data trending charts for both books on GPA.

Across the board in all grades, you will see a huge jump starting in 2020, and a pretty steady decline starting in early 2023 when the market began crashing.

If you look at the charts, they all clearly show these trends, and they still have not corrected to their pre-spec boom prices.

Historically, as these charts show, both books have had a slow increase in FMV by around 5% (at most) since the early 2000’s.
